TEWKS
Police Unit? Yeah, it was most likely done on purpose. edit… To be honest, that stuff happened a lot more in the past. The rivalry has softened a bit over the years I think. #2 edit… I just spoke with a retired guy 87 years old (still sharp). He was telling me about some of the pranks played on each other. The old center station had a long hallway with doors on both ends. The bunk rooms were off that. The doors were never locked back then. Anyway, the cops wrangled up a snapping turtle sometime during the night, probably crossing a road somewhere in town. They cracked open the door and let it in the long hallway to greet the firefighters on their next call! 1 Link to comment

wbw6cos
Been there. Done that. With previous company. Usually, it was a speed sensor on Auto Shift. My Right Now issue was an air valve (or manifold) made a loud pop at speed and rapid air loss was next. I lost primary air supply.. Made it to shoulder. Definitely, not a roadside repair, hence the hooker. The affected part is in the frame above the air tanks. Something popped up and air escaped. It would stay down. Not sure what it was, but it had a bunch of air lines in and out. Link to comment
roadscholar
CADS meeting tonight, which of these four is not like the others : ) Tim and a few of the guys are leaving after work tomorrow headed to South Carolina where he’s competing in the Sand Blast Rally on his Beta 390, 4 of the guys are tagging along as his pit crew. 1 Link to comment
roadscholar
That’s Tim in the background, about 4 years ago he hit a deer and totaled his Africa Twin A/S. He also busted up his spinal cord and laid paralyzed on a sparsely traveled dirt road in W. Kansas for several hours until a farmer (who said he almost never uses that road) came along and called 911. He was in the last hours of trying to complete an Iron Butt Assoc. Dusty Butt 1500 Gold which no one had ever done (1500 miles in 24 hours on all dirt). For a year or so prior he asked me to make a route that he could do it on somewhere in the Southeast. I tried a lot of different stuff but there were always too many paved connectors and not enough continuous dirt to make it work in the required time. I told him it was impossible this side of the Mississippi and that he’d have to go out west or at least the Great Plains which is what he did. It took over a year for him to mostly heal up and another for him to completely, his doctors said they’d never seen such a miraculous recovery. He knew he was probably close but thought it was short of the 1500 when he crashed, but sent his paperwork in after he started recuperating. At the Iron Butt yearly awards banquet and after calculating all his documentation Mike Kneebone surprised Tim and announced he had completed the 1500 in 24, was the only person to ever do it and they were retiring the ride from then on because it was nearly impossible, too dangerous, and they didn't want anyone else attempting it. He's never entered a Pro Rally before either but I like his chances : ) 1 Link to comment

ESokoloff
Ummmm, you did remove the tailgate retaining cables to allow the gate to drop further right? The dryers not too bad but washers are Heavy. My uncle was very proud that he replaced his washer & dryer several years ago. He was 92 at the time & had done it by himself. Link to comment

Hosstage
That's an awfully nice lawn machine! For the washer and dryer, I actually own my own appliance moving dolly, a heavy steel unit acquired from U-Haul in 1969 by my parents who tried to return it but were told it's not on the list. Ok. It has old school fan/motor belts on a bearing assembly, rather than slides, to roll over the steps. It has been borrowed by almost every one I know over the last 50 years, family, friends, coworkers. It's shocking I still have it, but it sure makes moving appliances like that much easier. I can hear Rougs now; "Moving dolly? We don't need no stinkin' moving dolly!" 1 Link to comment

Sometimes the old stuff is just plain gooder. I've got a dolly, but that was for once I got it off the wifes truck. Just now, Hosstage said: I can hear Rougs now; "Moving dolly? We don't need no stinkin' moving dolly!" I get that a bit. At work, we have these GSA safes, a little two drawer guy will weigh in at 300+/- lbs and the five drawer guys are 500+lbs. One of my co-workers, bout my age, needed a two drawer. So I go in my space and pull him one out. I don't use no stinkin' dolly, I just start yanking it across the carpet. I put it outside his door and say "here's your safe". All in all, I only moved it about 100ft, good exercise. The next day, another co-worker comes to me and says "Daryl asked me to help him move that safe,.....he didn't want to ask you since you moved it by yourself",....I thought,....weak biotch-do some damn pushups. When I first got the job, the site lead told me not to move the safes 'cause the company has facility people that do that and I'm not insured if I get hurt doing that. I told him, "you'd never know I got hurt moving a safe at work anyway". I can easily get a dolly, but then I gotta go on the antique elevator, down four floors, get in the facility room, hope one of their dollys is easy to find, back on the elevator, to the room, play tilt-o-safe to get it on the dolly. By the time I do all that, I could have the safe moved. And no, the safes we have aren't on wheels. Link to comment
