No, it was a Cha Ching sound. My 12 y/o bet me fifty bucks I wouldn’t walk out on the tree. She don’t know me very well I guess. :classic_biggrin: PS….I let her off the hook.

Some town history is disappearing. The old center school is being torn down very soon. It opened in 1934 as the HS. I did 5th & 6th grade there. We got to break a few doors for training purposes.

Damn shame about the eminent demise of that grand building.

.....but, but, but, why???   New England has a LOT of old "historic" buildings dating back before The Revolution.  It still looks pretty solid, except for that hole-y part.  :dontknow:

Good question. I guess the new giant elementary school behind it determined its fate. I’m assuming the new facility has administrative room which the old building was primarily used for. :dontknow:

That reminds me, years ago when I was wholesaling MB’s a big goofy 16 year old’s father bought him an 80’s something 420SEL. About 6 months later he lost control on I-95 at a high rate of speed, it did an endo over the guardrail divider and barrel rolled a few times into oncoming traffic. The investigating trooper said if he’d been in any other kind of car he’d be dead. His dad got him another one similar.

I’ve seen a few interesting sights over the years. “seatbelts vs no seatbelts” I didn’t wear mine when I first got on the FD. :dopeslap: I do now! :spittake:

My son totaled an 84 500se (grey market and high mileage) and two other vehicles in a crash and walked away w/out a scratch....... incredibly safe cars.

Kinda my fault for giving him that rocket ship to begin with....:4607:

I've got a video provided by a Tesla driver that captured a HMMWV rollover at 45 MPH.  Disheartening to see 4 Soldiers flying in the air because they failed to wear their restraints. Two of them didn't make it.

Good chance the TFD ems crew and Lowell paramedics gave somebody another day!   Cardiac arrest, not certain but it was looking ok. When the medics are needed on such calls, one firefighter (me today) drives their medic truck to the hospital.

Six years ago I lost control of my car on an on-ramp.  The car did a 180 and rear-ended the end of the guard rail, then continued spinning until it was facing forward again:

crash0.thumb.jpg.f2da69c6a859e0a9845e7965c0a56a54.jpg

Wiped out about 35 feet of guard rail:

crash1.thumb.jpg.df4c86bfe4d164e65a77a732f1619733.jpg

It was plain luck that I was driving alone, because the guardrail wadded up, came in through the window, and punched the front passenger seat right around chest level.  It destroyed the seat, and if anyone had been sitting there they would have been killed:

crash3.thumb.jpg.474c70d0d7da1f83f6c41cd1b6a9490b.jpg

Since it was mostly a rear-end impact, my seat was the thing that decelerated my body; the front airbags didn't even go off.  But the side-curtain airbag did, and it kinda hurt:

crash4.thumb.jpg.27aa8464ade1bf4d01c7ea5f87a3619f.jpg

There wasn't even an impact on my side of the car - that was the airbag slamming into me, not me slamming into the airbag.  It's not as bad as it looks, more of a scrape than a bruise really.  Other than that, I crawled out of the wreckage without a scratch.   The car was totaled, but considering the entire range of possible outcomes from a scenario like that, I feel extremely lucky.

About the guy we took in last week in cardiac arrest. He was out enjoying the Memorial Day parade today.  A nice thanks from the family.

Edit…

It was posted on Facebook and advertised to the town so what could happen. :dontknow: The fella in the white shirt looks so much better than when he last met the FD.  EMS saves a lot of people but not always with this positive of an outcome.

Right now, our building is a bit warm, has been since Monday, got some chillers out (this floor is 'bout 30k sqft office spaces).  Many of the employees are in "shorts",......ya,....it's a business casual work week kinda thing.  My office is holding at 82*,........gotsta acclimate.  I've been asked if I was hot,......meh, it could be cooler, but I'm good :18: , have been in much worse office conditions.  Back in the day, the company offices on bases did not have A/C at all, nor did the barracks.

Nope, Camp LeJeune and Okinawa be wet heat.  Okinawa barracks in 1989-90 were HOT places to be.

I'd prefer dry heat, but problem is, you don't know how much sweat you lost 'cause it evaporates.  At least with wet heat, I know my "juice" levels.  ;)
