I'd steer clear of the Parkway, it's snowing in Maggie Valley right now : ) edit, looks like it’s headed towards Highlands too (from the SW), might want to get off the Plateau ASAP. Link to comment
wbw6cos
Thanks Bill. We hit snow above Clayton, which started as light flurries. However, on in to Highlands, there was accumualtion on trees, grass, and elevated surfaces. Wet roads. I did not think anyone would have believed it, but my camera was acting up and did not capture the blizzard-like conditions. Temp dropped as low as 30 F. Spring time? As Lowndes said, they are on a different calendar than N. GA. 1 Link to comment
roadscholar
That extra 2000' makes all the difference. One time late Oct I left here at 5pm it was low 90's, 6 hours later in Highlands high 30's would get your attention in shorts and a t-shirt : ) Glad it wasn't enough to stick on the roads. 1 Link to comment

wbw6cos
It was $25 for that meal, so I guess they were necessary. My leftovers became another meal, so I am back on skid row again. 1 Link to comment

ESokoloff
Less then 5 miles from home https://abc7.com/wildlife-crossing-101-freeway-bridge-groundbreaking/11779405/ Traffic will be a bear while it’s being constructed but hopefully it will save many a bear. Fortunately my commute is opposite heavy flow & starts earlier then mosts. There’s been talk of implementing this for the better half of the 31 yrs we’ve lived here. Hard to believe it’s finally happening. Link to comment
TEWKS
^ Nice but man, that’s expensive. Back East we just teach the wildlife to read. They handle it from there. 2 Link to comment

I Don’t know? Maybe Pumas & Bears aren't as smart as Moose or maybe a 10 lane busy obstacle corse is too much of a challenge? Acord to the report much of the money came from sources other then tax payers. Back in 2006 there were 3 bear incidents https://www.theacorn.com/articles/we-cant-bear-it-more-sightings-occur/ so I see the need for this project. Here’s a few images of the site a few years ago. 1 Link to comment
roadscholar
We’ve had that problem for years with black bears, they migrate back and forth along a corridor between N. and central Fla. I’ve spent a lot of time in the center of the state and have seen many crossing the roads or out in the forests while riding/driving off-road. They finally built a tunnel under Hwy 46 to funnel them safely to the other side. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1996-09-05-mn-40816-story.html Link to comment

Me too Larry, hopefully sometime during Summer or Fall, LMK if you're headed that way. That AJP is a really cool bike and has some high quality hardware, made in Portugal. I'd never seen one before, it’s got the old Husqvarna 630 motor (pre BMW) which was/is a great engine. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/ajp/pr7-650-adventure/2019/ 2 Link to comment
