I am sorry to hear its true. It makes me (and others) which direction he is going to move. I am going to make a prediction and say he is headed to TN. Of course, it's just a guess. OoPEZoO
Hey guys.....looks like I'm flying solo and don't have a place to sleep when I get to Maggie Valley. I'm ok with getting my own room if I have to, but I first wanted to see if anyone had an empty bed and wanted to split the cost of the room. I'm planning to get in Thursday afternoon, and heading out early Sunday morning. FYI.....I'm a non-smoker, take daily showers, don't snore too loud, I like long walks on the beach, and like to stay up late drinking beer and BSing (unless I fall asleep in a lawn chair and spill beer on myself.....oh yeah, I'm also honest) Any takers Link to comment

Perry and I have got two rooms with two racks each and there are only three of us heading down. We're heading down on Wednesday but we're also leaving Sunday morning for the trip north. TEWKS
I've been planning this trip for a while & a few of my co-workers have shown serious interest in heading down with me. So, I put this plan on paper to give them an idea of what they will be in for. If anyone is flying solo & would like to hook up with us, let me know. If you have any suggestions to make this ride better, I'd love to hear it. Matts_12GS
Tewks, I wouldn't stop in Asheville, I'd roll the extra 40 miles to the Maggie Inn. There will be many of us there already on Thursday. That would allow you to hit the Dragon (if you feel you must risk the extra enforcement) on a weekday before as many of the squids are there. Secondly, I would strongly recommend that you ride the Cherohala Skyway while you're there. It's about a 100 mile round trip but with far less traffic and much more fun than the dragon. Third, if you're in the mood to spend $15 to enter a park, go to Grandfather Mountain up near Linville, NC off of the parkway. The views are better, the "mile high swinging bridge" is cool to walk over too. Chimney rock is cool for a couple things, mostly that one of the largest fall waterfalls in NC is there, it drops something like 400 feet, but, other than the height, there are many better waterfalls in the area. Try looking here for NC waterfalls and you'll find something like 90 falls in Transylvania county alone. I don't want to dissuade you if you are set on those attractions, just hoping to offer some alternatives to make sure that you get the most out of your visit to the area. Link to comment

Good suggestions, but if you're there for the roads and you want better roads and less traffic than The Dragon, stay in Blowing Rock (Hemlock Inn is good) and ride the roads to the west of Spruce Pine (80, 197, 19W, etc.) on your way down to BRR. You'll arrive with a huge smile and I'll let you you buy me a beer Link to comment

jbr7t
If anyone is coming thru Richmond Virginia Area and needs a rest stop / or whatever let me know. I've got an extra bed and a comfy sofa (and plenty of floor space..but the dog will probably lick you to death) or if you just need coffee and a bathroom. My house is in the middle of nowhere (just ask OoPEZoO) about 30 mins north west of Richmond in a town called Beaverdam. Some nice scenic roads if you like seeing a lake, old farm houses and some decent twisties and such. Anyway, if your passing thru or need any help, let me know...I'll do what I can. Link to comment
