I did another START 23 test ride of 313 miles. Found some great, narrow twisty roads. I met @BamaJohn, @Rockosmithand @60Aviator for Brunch in Summerville, GA. Rockosmith followed me to Telico, TN and back to Ellijay. Picture are in the GoPro somewhere, I hope. After a damp start it turned into a great day, sunny and cool. Perfect riding weather.IMG_6129.thumb.jpeg.f8029f206e572e1ec304faba16d5feb0.jpegIMG_6132.thumb.jpeg.1493e62e88484f8cb5e160651eab8544.jpegIMG_6133.thumb.jpeg.b8901f7a48cb8892b849fde0d5af2a41.jpegIMG_6137.thumb.jpeg.b639416e7253d199f0e0c928cc229d6b.jpeg

What is the prize for finding it?  (asking for a friend)

A slap on the back and a handshake. PS watch out for the 2 dogs, they stage a coordinated attack.

I’ll bet it was hot up in porterville today.   You know who you are.

oh, for those of you with nav vi units I’ve found that mine operates glitch free if I wrap it in a heating pad on high for 15min or so before heading out. An inmate on adv took a heat gun to his and got several weeks of trouble free gps-ing. Not having heat gun I thought I’d try the heating pad, and so far so good. It’s a shame that dealers still sell ‘em.

The Scotch Broom hasn’t bloomed yet & the Milkweed is getting ready for the Monarch caterpillars.

All these are native to the Santa Monica Mnt region.

Yep...everything was green and most of the fields were flooded due to rain.  Here is a picture from the ferry crossing mainland to Mustang Island.  Winds were 30mph plus today.  Yech.

When I lived in Texas, I loved to camp right on the beach at Mustang Island.  Is this still allowed or has the whole scene grown too large to allow this anymore.

Booked to have the first service done middle of next week so got out today to max out the mileage. Rode from Calgary out to Canmore, then down into Kananaskis on hwy 40 to the winter gate and back out. Made it to 1159 kms total on the bike which is pretty good for this early in our season and considering I've been fitting in rides while doing kitchen renos.

Scrubbed in a new rear tire on Azusa Canyon and Glendora Mtn Rd.  A month ago I was on this same road with the usual suspects and took a pic of the very full San Gabriel Reservoir.  The second pic was today.  What a difference 4 weeks makes.

Slimey Crud Run, Southern Wisconsin.  4-5 thousand bikes at Pine Bluff.

This was three of them. Then most drive up to Leland and do the same  type of gathering.

Happens twice a year.

By the way , the wooden sidecar bike with the model T Ford wheels was running before the pics. Top speed, 14mph. Some guy named Peter had an enclosed trailer with a bunch of scooters.

I turned in the k1600 bagger today and picked up my rt. I’ll miss the sound of the engine and the smoothness and the pull,  but it sure was nice to get back on a bike that fits me. :4322:

there was some insurance work, and a big service and tires and brakes. All told:  $9595.

on big tujunga

there was a yellow flowering plant lining the road on the upper half. The pic app took me to wiki:  Spanish broom.

A perennial, evergreen shrub, Spanish broom can be mistaken for Scotch broom (Scot's broom) but is distinguished by its fragrant flowers and round stems. Spanish broom is a noxious weed because of its prolific seed production and aggressive replacement of native plants.

As with most invasive species, looks pretty, really sucks.
