I had an appt in van nuys Wednesday and when I got out I rode to ca 39 to see if the boatload of rain that we got on Tuesday had made a difference in the level of the San Gabriel dam. 4.99”of rain fell in Pasadena on Tuesday. Whew. Hi @Groanup 😀  Below you can see the difference 50 days makes.

With temps topping at 58 for a moment on Sunday, I got out on an afternoon ride to Redbone Willy's Trading Company,, a unique general store in Lawndale, NC with eclectic vintage clothing, jewelry, boots and lots of hats -- old and new.  It also has lunch food and about 20 varieties of homemade ice cream.  I got coffee flavor and it was quite tasty.

I’ve only ever gotten ice cream there and honestly never thought of having lunch there,  not sure if they have seating as we’ve always sat outside in summer on rocking chairs.  Has any of that changed??  I’ve always viewed it as more of an eclectic shop that has ice cream.

Yep, full lunch menu (with meat loaf sandwiches).  In addition to the outside seating, they have an inside dining area to the left of the main entrance.

Ok …. Then that’s all new.  Have to check it out on my next trip past there.

Thanks.

I’ll admit that I was riding at a more leisurely pace than usual as there was a lot of run off and some of that was silty. I even passed by Latigo Canyon rd in favor of kanan (a first) due to my apprehension of the road conditions on that lovely 10 mile stretch.

35degF today, but not raining, so better than most recent day, and suppose to return to “winter mix” tommorow……

so got out for ride today.

took the bike with better wind protection and heated grips: the RT

went further out of town, then into town to stop by the beach/pier. Rode back out of town and stopped for roadside picture, but phone died (forgot to keep inside warm pocket, not tank bag when cold).

not a lot of miles, maybe 20, but was good to get out for ride. That serves as a January ride. Can be difficult to get in a February ride.

No January ride this year, just got another 4" of snow, almost 50" for the year so far, about normal total for the whole year. I'll be lucky to get out before April I think.

I'm glad you guys are getting out there, have fun!

Deep down, I must have an evil streak of pure greed in my soul.  Even though I love that BMW sitting in my garage (who is hoping, maybe even PRAYING, that her owner rides her one day), I salivate when I see other rider's treasures.  That's a beautiful GS. 👍🏆  Like a picture of an enticing, beautiful young lady, your GS is just drippin' of ....

I decided to skip work and ride down to Astor, FL to Drifters Grill to meet some of the local members of my local club, BMW-NEF for lunch. Great food and good company.

I had a nice 298 mile ride with high temps of 86F. I did make it home before the storms start.

Bil and I of course arrived a little to early and had to wait for the other guys.

Just returned home from a 313mile ride to Micanopy, FL for some soup and a sandwich.

In the morning I stopped at DOS Coffee in St Augustine, FL to meet a few other riders. After coffee and refreshments and letting the sun warm up everything a little, we rode the long slow way to Micanopy, FL for lunch. Low temperatures in the morning of 31F and a high of almost 60F after lunch (59.9F :)).

Here is a picture of sunup before the coffee stop.97EA54B6-AE61-4C8B-98CE-306FD54AA4CC.thumb.jpeg.257388dca1295c95f6d0ccf9d4ee53d4.jpeg

And of course a picture of lunch.

200 mile loop south around Lake Wateree SC today in the nice 59 degree sun.  First stop was Starbucks in Baxter Village for some fuel for the body then on to Sam Kendall’s in Camden, SC.  Awesome crab cake sandwich (sorry no pics).

This is our lunch stop in Camden, Sam Kendall's.  It is truly a nice find in that part of the state where most towns seem to be having some tough times.  This place was great.  It was busy and the staff were extremely thankful for our business.   If you are ever in the area it is worth the stop.

Another decent afternoon in the mid Atlantic for January, mid 50’s. Too nice to pass up before putting the 907ie on the lift for some fettling. During my 40 miles I came upon some agricultural yard art.

Great spot in Camden, SC. Some friends in Wilmington, NC and I have met there several times for lunch. It' s about the same travel distance for them and me. There is a sports bar place across the street which is also reasonably good, but I think Sam Kendall's is better.

The thread title isn't specific, so I say this counts.

I'm not a hard core sledder like the others. Once a year at most. I'm in pretty darn good shape IMHO but I've NEVER been so sore after thrashing a sled through the woods for 150 miles.

Oh yeah, sledding will beat hell out of you!

Good looking machines.

I talked with a kid that raced moto cross, he got talked into racing sleds one year, moto cross style. He said riding the bikes was pretty rough on the body, but nothing compared to racing sleds, he said it absolutely beat hell out of him. He'd rather ride a 1/2 hour moto than an 8 lap heat race on the sleds.

But damn, they are fun!

I got back last week from a 3,100 mile trip to Big Bend NP via Hill Country, TX. My 07 performed perfectly. My goodness I like this bike more each time I ride it.

Rainbow Trail Pat, a 100 mile hiking/biking trail that's open to motos. It starts west of US285 near Poncha Springs then runs down the length of the Sangre de Cristo range. We did a short section from Methodist Mtn to Bear Creek that day,, one of the easier ones. I tried to take dirt riding visitors on it whenever they were in town, I'm sorry you didn't get to but if I remember we had a pretty full schedule while you were there, if you do make it back though...

From a different year in June, downed trees are common early in the season before the locals (Ramz on Adv) get out with their chain saws. We had to lift my bike over this one and as you can see from the missing bark others just rode over it (Caleb is contemplating the odds and in the end managed but not w/o some excitement : )
