Did it fail and tear through the swing arm body? Final drive damaged, too? Dang, I love these "reliable" BMW's, which all seem to fail in the same way, in the same places on the bike. 🙄 Link to comment

It’s still rideable but I have to check if sidecase still attaches 1 Link to comment

Darbarian
I took Too-Tall Dr. Zee to the surgeon today. Next time I attempt to throw my leg over the saddle, it will happen without having to make three attempts before executing the stirrup mount. I attempted to take photos, but all I had was my hated cell phone which thus far has refused my attempts to extract photos I finally figured out how to take. Back to the good news... at 50-degrees, it actually was a pleasant ride down all the back roads to the bigger little town downstream. I may have to stretch my season by declaring 50 a decent number. That's always been my favorite Beemer color scheme, of all of them! 👍 I hardly rode at all this year, and winter is upon us. It was in the low 50F's this weekend, and I kept intending to get out one or two more times. However, there was also a 10-15 MPH wind, with threatening skies, so I just couldn't bring myself to get out there. But, I regret it - I regret the whole wasted year. (At my age, you don't know how many of those you actually have left!) So, get out and "Ride it like you stole it!". Have fun, stay safe! 1 Link to comment

Darbarian
I found that 50 degrees is still okay, so squoze in another run to the Idaho border yesterday ... cooled off a bit too much at the pass (mid-30s) for continuation so I headed back home from there... turned on the heated grips and seat ... fascinating luxury. I continue to revel in the smooth, strong, agile luxury of my "old 1200". I caught a few 'been-there' photos and an unusual sighting of Bighorn sheep. I'll share a couple snapshots here, but more at my website: https://www.bitterrootbugle.com/2022/10/31/snatched-another-ride-to-the-border/ 8 1 Link to comment

There are also small battery packs available so you can wear them on the sidelines at your grandkids cool weather football or soccer games and not freeze your ashe off. 2 Link to comment

Actually, While I might have been happier on the GS on some of Twisty's roads, over all, with the cool temps leaving Indy and the majority of Monday's ride in the rain, I was thankful for the RT. No doubt Twisty and others would have been just as happy or even more so on their GS. All good. And.... Everyone's favorite Trick or Treater..... 11 Link to comment
Francois_Dumas
Yup, we finally got a little ride in again. The olive harvest is in full swing, so not much time..... or remaining muscle and energy..... but had to get back on the road what with the glorious weather. We rode up to San Venanzo (not in the US) and admired the view from there on the distant Appenine Ranges..... Met a great old motorcyclist too, 85 years old, with whom we chatted for almost half an hour. 10 Link to comment

wbw6cos
Overcast day with drizzle and light rain for a ride from Waynesville, NC to Marshall for lunch. Redman
Rode up to Muskegon Friday. Was windy. THen went to beach to have a photowalk out on the breakwater. Went out on this upper part that had spray splashing up occasionally. I was getting a little wet. I didnt go out past the turn onto the lower part where had waves washing over. Went got back to bike, my helmet there on foot peg had collected about a pint of sand. Was looking more stormy, so headed home, but did Stop for lunch. Only got rained on the last mile or so on way home. 9 Link to comment

Lone_RT_rider
I got back yesterday from a great weekend in the mountains. I found my groove on the way up and chased a flock of super motards through Charley creek road between 107 and 214 in the NC hills. Unfortunately that wore my tire down a bit, so I was careful the rest of the weekend. It also was a bit taxing on the brakes, but the fluid recovered and I got my brake feel back. Man that was a good run. ;) I think I might change out that brake fluid just in case. :D Some of the pics I collected from the weekend. It was good to be with friends, and good to be home. 12 Link to comment

Michiganr80rt
November. Temps in the 40's-50s. Rain to the north is predicted to be moving inland. Time for a November ride up the lakeshore to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The spoiler is that the rain did not move inland fast enough so a lot of light rain, wet road riding. 10 Link to comment

Scott9999
I've told a long winded story of some of my dad's "fishing buddies", who turned out being hero's of the Pacific in WWII. One of those fought in the European campaign, in the famous 442nd Regimental Combat Team, was much decorated (Silver Star, two Bronze Stars with oak leaf's for valor, purple heart-S, etc.), while his family was interned at Manzanar. Very mellow, unassuming guy, a mechanic by trade, just the nicest guy. I heard that he was killed by a DUI driver a few years after that while I was deployed in the Pacific. Tragic end. RIP, Ken, Bravo-Zulu, American hero. 3 Link to comment
longjohn
The last time I was up on Gibraltar rd and Camino Cielito was with the SoCal contingent when we encountered a freaky and twilight-zoneish fog that made us crawl in first gear for 17mi in order to stay on the road and not run into each other. it was much nicer yesterday on a clear autumn day. edit: oh and a happy belated vet’s day to those that served On ca150 above ojai. and above Santa Barbara. and para sailer 10 Link to comment
