Ok. We've got a couple guys here that fly part time. That would probably be cool as its more "real" calls instead of taking people who've had headaches for a week to the hospital at 3 in the morning. I told our chief that if we started motorcycle medics I would sign up for Paramedic class!

I work part time for Wake County EMS which is Raleigh. I do Critical Care full time now. Hoping to get on the Bird very soon.

Thanks Pat. It was a very well cared for bike. Extremely clean. Runs GREAT! Lots of add on's. I'm still not so sure about the Staintune exhaust. It's a little loud for my liking. I may switch back to a stock exhaust but I haven't decided yet. A couple of people at Morton's BMW have the same model. I'm going to stop by there one day this week and listen to what it sounds like stock. Then I'll be able to make a determination. The corbin seat is pretty comfy. Working with a buddy of mine that is a machinist to make a "platform" to mount on the back to be able to have a good spot for packing for longer trips.

Richmond Race! They are using the station for a "Staging" location for when it's over and all the drunks hit the streets. We are about 3 miles from the track..I can hear the cars running.

Someone in trouble ;) or 9/11 logistics? Class A uniform and shiny shoes in the AM.

I'll be out front of our station by 0630 for our annual ceremony.

Thoughts for all of the fallen, their families and loved ones . . . .

We mourn.

Larimer County Emergency Services and its affiliated agencies, including my volunteer department, will observe a minute of silence, followed by a minute of sirens, as our salute.

Riding backwards on the Engine today. It's been a slow day, that doesn't bid well for what is in store for us tonight! Probably another sleepless night. Hopefully it will be because of legit calls...maybe even an actual fire.

Went to work early Sunday so I could catch the ceremony in front of our station. Surprisingly, many neighbors were there too.

Left my Army Reserve duties early to attend a 9/11 ceremony in my community. There was almost a Dennis Leary moment(s) during it. The Fire Chief, Police Chief and Pastor all did excellent jobs. Then when the career politician got up there and used this occasion as a campaign speech, well....yeap. Mt wife escorted me out of the room.

Sorry guys, I do not mean to demean the loss of our brothers in arms by my demeanor. I can only handle so much...

It's interesting how many politicians use tragedy as a catapult for their careers...ok thats all i'll say. I know we are supposed to stay away from politics on here.

So, sure is a beautiful day outside here in Va.

We lost two firefighters in one fire this year. I was appalled at the Mayor's and Fire Chief's unabashed politicking at the funeral by thanking just about every politician in CA. For a minute I thought I was watching an Academy Award exceptance speech... you know, the one where they cue the music because they're going too long?

The thing is, we, collectively as people on the job, are memorializing our brothers and sisters. The politicians are just attending another "event." It's sad that they don't understand (or realize) how completely disrespectful their behavior is to both the fallen and family.

Cool Video, Thanks! It really was a great life. Put in 25 years, loved all of them but knew it was time, I still miss the guys, and the firehouse itself, but

The adventures on the retired side are lots of fun too!

A bad day for the job, A Mount Vernon,NY Fire Fighter was killed this morning in an early morning Hose fire. He was 54 yrs old and had 25 years on the job. Didn't want to retire because he still loved it.

Looks like a heart attack, (even though he was a fitness and workout guy according to the firefighters I've heard from).

It's a rough game, Rest in Peace Brother

I was just ending my shift when I heard about this. Early reports said they were doing CPR after the rescue & during transport. Drove home hoping for the best.

Been a crazy few days for public safety employees. Several FD LODD's and here in VA. 2 police officers were shot in the same day (unrelated incidents). Va. Tech officer was killed and a Va. State Trooper was shot during a traffic stop. Prayers out to all the families.

Knowing you two are on duty should make Californians feel quite a bit safer, especially on New Year's Eve. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's, gents.

Nothing like spending all day in the kitchen at the firehouse. I'll have to give you my Pizza Casserole recipe. Super easy and always a crowd pleaser!

Pillsbury pizza dough (on the rack with the biscuits etc)

jar pizza sauce (i usually get the chunky prego)

1lb sausage

1lb ground beef

pepperoni

mushrooms

onion

4cups shredded mozzarella

Pre Heat oven 375. Brown sausage and beef. Cover bottom of 9x13 casserole dish with pie crust. Put in meat and veggies. Pour sauce over. Cover with cheese. Pepperoni on top of cheese. Bake for about 25 mins.

23, 24, maybe 25, and 26. Off for the new year, but that doesn't mean they won't make me stay (or come in) anyway.

Missed a 5th alarm the other day... Let's hope there's no other action this weekend.

The other day the guys on my dept made an awesome ice rescue of a deer that fell through on a local pond. :) The police then proceeded to blow a hole in it's chest with a shotgun!

The deer was actually badly wounded from a vehicle strike so the police had no choice. Funny in a twisted kind of way. :/
