Bob Palin
Big kudos to Killer, the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain. Thanks - if I'd taken any longer it would have been Unrally 10! I'd really like feedback on the registration process, it's using a general purpose tool I wrote that could, and I hope will, be used for many events here and elsewhere. Rather than clog up this forum let's do it by PM or even better email - bobp@fremontriver.com Link to comment

marcopolo
Just a small tip for any Canadians trying to contact the hotel. The 1-800 number for the Topaz Lodge/Casino will not work from Canada. Just use the direct line: 1-775-266-3338 and then select "1" for reservations. Link to comment
Bob Palin
The "register" link does not work for me. The register link actually calls a little javascript function, if you have javascript turned off not much will work on the registration pages. Doesn't use any cookies. What behaviour do you see? johnlt
Bob, it worked for me now, it just didn't "highlight" when I put my cursor over it and I "assumed" it didn't work. All's fine now, jlt Link to comment
cali_beemer
Hmmmm, take the motorcycle or the boat.....choices.... It will be HOT in July. Or I guess the bike would fit in the bed of the truck and boat in tow.... Link to comment
Limecreek
Hmmmmm.....this could work with my calendar--just a 2 day ride from Austin and I haven't been out to the eastern slope since the early 90's. How does the CHP feel about bikes running 30+ over? Link to comment

drswift
At the bottom of the hill ehind the hotel is a marina that rents boats. More info when they reopen in the Spring. Link to comment
SageRider
CHP will give you a present if they catch you. One department that does not seem to be impacted by California's budget woes is the CHP. US395 is not the best choice for 30+ over.... Link to comment
hopz
Bob and Susie are IN... registration number 124... hotel not yet seeing the GO signal but apparently it is OK. Thanks to all the people on the committee, especially Killer- great job... worked fine for me. Link to comment
SANTA
and you thought the wait for this announcement took forever... 6 months and 29 days before the wheels spin... or is it 28, there's still gonna be a pile of snow to move in between. already counting the days Link to comment
SageRider
Bob, the status is changed from unpaid to paid when Dave acknowledges receipt of payment, whether paypal or check. When that change is made, the hotel's list is automatically updated. Link to comment

randy
so, I hope I have my dual sport by then. I am looking at smaller 400 - 500 cc dual sport bikes. I like the Husky T510. Anyway is there opportunity for good offroad riding for a smaller dual sport? Or is it mostly for the GS crowd? I guess I can fit the R1100s and dual sport in the truck, maybe bring both. I guess it depends on if I find someone to ride out with me. If there are any other dual sport riders coming PM me, especially if you live in that area. Link to comment

We can probably come up with some form of technical difficulty idea as we develop the dirt routes and get closer. We are working on routes that people can see before getting here. Some will have pictures from pre rides that were done to give the participant a glimpse of what they can expect. I do not anticipate there to be any single track type stuff, but, there are some real good dirt riders working on this so who knows, there just might be some if there is a desire. One thing I can assure you, there are a lot of dirt opportunities out here. Link to comment
SageRider
Just as a heads up to all: I would advise not planning on riding in the central Sierra on the Saturday preceding the event (7/10/2010) due to the Markleville Death Ride taking place. There will be a lot of bicycles on the road for this event, with some of the passes being closed for the event. If you plan on riding the Sierras, particularly SR89 South of Lake Tahoe, SR4, or SR88 on Saturday 7/10/2010 please check the website above so you will have an idea what you will encounter. Riders may be out on the course as late as 8:00 PM... I have been through the area in past years at the time of the event, sometimes the roads are shut down early in the day, but open up afternoon. Keep in mind that the riding in the Sierra's can be in excess of 9,000 feet. Don't jet your bike too rich (CV carbs are generally more fogiving at altitude) and all the work you have to put in is going to be that much harder. And for the GS crowd, there's thousands of miles of dirt roads to choose from. We'll have a much better idea after the snow melts. Edited December 11, 2009 by b o n e y Link to comment
eddd
I'm registered. I'll have the RT, Sherpa, and mountain bike along just to be sure I don't run out of things to do. I'll be reserving an RV spot at the Topaz. Link to comment
randy
well it always come down to what I can actually find and afford. but as of right now, I have been looking at the newer Husky EFI "T" series bikes. So jetting would not be a big problem. if I have to go carb, I guess I can "practice" a little jet setting before I come to get acquited with my bike, and be able to adjust it once I get out there. As the event get's closer and I actually sell my three dirt only bikes, to purchase the dual sport, I will check in with you guys again. thanks Link to comment

KDeline
I never say IN until about a month before the event simply because things can change so I will say we are planning on it, then to the MOA rally, then maybe Alaska. Link to comment

Sellis
I'll be there, really looking forward to seeing everyone again. Really great area, I had a business contact in Carson City for several years and got to the area 4 or 5 times a year. Great riding and exploring in the area. We went to Gardnerville to eat Bask food. I believe the UnRally has always been weekdays. This allows those who have longer rides to only take one week off, and travel on both ends rather than parts of two workweeks. The dates did change, but I'm pretty sure they only moved one day sooner so that it lines up with the MOA rally better. Link to comment
Bill_Walker
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say.... IN! I know, I know, I usually wait until the last possible minute to commit, so this is unlike me. Let's hope it's not a jinx.
