Official UN-IX Sierra Adventures Announcement!!!

Whoa, I just saw the dates are differnt than the original main thread. This event is on a monday through thursday???? Some poeple have to work m-f. I was going to go fri-sun but this puts me out. I cant take vacation during the week. I dont think I have ever seen a rally that didnt fall partly on a weekend.

I believe the UnRally has always been weekdays. This allows those who have longer rides to only take one week off, and travel on both ends rather than parts of two workweeks. The dates did change, but I'm pretty sure they only moved one day sooner so that it lines up with the MOA rally better.

I think almost every motorcycle rally I have ever been to has gone through 2 or 3 days during the week and gone through the weekend. That way people that need to travel from far away have time and it also allows those that have weekends off to join without the need for vacation. I was shocked when I saw that the dates are during the week only. I live only a couple of hours away and now will not be able to attend becasue I wont be able to take vacation time. Its seems like a pretty strange arrangement for it to occur completely during the week. Most people work M-F and to me this is just plain weird.

We are an UNusual bunch! That's why it's called the UNrally - not your typical sit-around-the-campfire-over-the-weekend-and-trying-to-see-all-200-vendors!

Seriously though, it's all about gettting there, meeting new folks, doing LOTS of riding, and savoring memories till the next one.

Cali,

Your opinion has been noted. b o n e y stated the reasons this event has always been held during the week. I wo'nt repeat.

I'm very sorry you won't be able to make it to our unrally.

Very sorry you can't make it because the dates don't work for you. All UNrallies have been in somewhat remote places so very few participants live less than a day's ride away. Most have at least a couple of days riding, many of us lives a couple of thousand of more miles away. All the previous UNrallies (8) have been mid-week and it worked well for most of us.

There is another big motivation for having the UN midweek - a lot less traffic, providing a better riding experience. (Can you imagine trying to take a loop around Tahoe on a Saturday?)

Who's gonna start the Pied Piper Run planning?

I think Michael (SageRider) should ride out here to the East Coast and lead the Pied Piper Run back to the UnRally!

Michael knows how to get there and it will provide him with that Iron Butt ride he spoke of in an earlier post!

Bob,

That would be loads of fun, but something tells me I'll be up to my ears in last minute minutia in the days before the event. We'll see if I can make part of whatever gets planned...

Bullett and Twisties are . . . IN!!!

I can tell we will have more than a few discussions about what to do before/after the UN.

TIGTBSMF!!! ;)

It is not strange or weird! It is the UnRally!

I will be riding for at least 4 days out and 4 days back, however, I and many Board members will be at the UnRally site by early Sunday.

If your only a couple of hours away, ride up for the day! You might make a few bucks in the Casino and get to meet some of us strange and weird board members  that arrive on Sunday.

Yay, we're all registered and looking forward to a great time in the Sierras....thanks to all who have put this together!! This being our first UNrally, we're anxious to meet and greet. It will be nice to see the folks we met at last year's Pre-DVD in Beatty!! July will be here in a blink of an eye....

If you have been at your job more then a year, it's plain weird that you can't even get a few days off.

In today's economy, I wouldn't call anything weird. :(

Lighten up folks.

I personally hope that Cali can work something out. If not for this unrally, then possibly for future unrallys. The decision, however, is cali's and I respect that.

So am I. The dates are set and not weird when you look at the past UN's. If he can't go, hopefully he can make the next one.

Well, considering I started the year off un-employed becasue I was laid off right before Christmas last year, I am just happy to have a job right now. Unfortunately my new job has very little vacation time (1 week) and any time I have will be on a family vacation.

Tim was being serious. I'll come as well and you can have my UN hat as I never wear them.

PS, glad you have a job/good luck with it.

Well I may try to get off work early and ride up there for dinner one night. We'll see, its still pretty far out for me. I was also just infomred its closer to 2 1/2 hours instead of 2. If I got off work early enough I can take backroads there and then take 395 to 50 home and be back midnight. Hmmmm, now that might be a good ride.

Cali has to be of sound mind. I certainly agree with his latest choice of bikes - he rides a black 2002 KRS!

LOL, this is actually my second RS. I put about 14k miles on a 99 ten years ago and I had an 03 GT. I love the black. Its as sexy as a bike gets and the cruise control compliments an awesome smooth motor and tranny. Very fast. I just have to make sure I dont get any tickets.

When I try to get into "Registered guests", it comes up with a error message.

I just tried clicking on "Signed Up" and it took me to "Registered Guests" right away.

Maybe it's your browser. I'm using Firefox.

I could register, and I can get to the Signed Up page.

I just never got to any link to make a payment.

Somone want to send me their Paypal account so I can send the $$ ?

Link to comment

The instructions for paying are on the final page where it gives you your registration number, there is no automated method (choice of the Un Organizers)

I assume you were clicking on the link for Registered Guests in the text of the home page rather than the link on the left column. I changed the way it works this afternoon and missed that link - tested all the functionality in a parallel system, just didn't remember that link! It works now.

I have added a separate page just for payment instructions

I predict you'll probably have opti-gluteal problems on that Wed. afternoon.

Opti-Gluteal (adj.) -- A physical condition in which you can't SEE your ASS staying at work until quitting time.

Just a quick question, I am in Vietnam for another week, and I cannot seem to access the website for registration. Did you put a foriegn firewall on it? If not it may be a firewall from the Vietnamese Gov. I will try to register when I get home before Xmas.
