You know, believe it or not, I actually thought that for a second. :dopeslap: Sand and water trumps (not Donald) snow and ice any day!

Have not been much riding since, and when staying in Daytona. To much pane in my spinal and hips. Daytona vas a big experience, and it look like Orlando is going to be the same. On yesterday I traveled in a simulator to the moon and mars. That was really a big ride! ( ore should I say awesome?) In a week Iĺ be in Jacksonville, visiting a BMW dealer WHO HAVE THE PARTS I NEED.

Florida is nice, ( much oil spill on the roads! ) but until now, no state has been like California. The mc roads, and a very changing nature. One thing is common, The Americans are a very inviting people.

Orlando aerea has really a lot good attractions. Epcot,Disney parks and Kennedy Space Center. St. Augustine at the coast, vas also a big experience.

Left Florida, hoping the winter would come to an end, in the North - Vest. Georgia and Alabama vas a relief. Not mountain, but the landscape is hilly, and the road is not mile after mile straight ahead. The trees start to be green, IT` S SPRING! Made me missing home - so I stopped looking at it. :-) Have stopped using programs "small roads" 4 lane are not small roads in my ayes. So now I use Viamichelin. Think I see more nature, small city s and how people live, driving those roads. One of many small towns I stayed over, ore just dow through, vas Grove Hill AL. Its hard to see some of them decline, and with a unemployment up to 50%. Have avoided the storms and floods who have stricken many States lately. Have had some grate rain, but don`t complain, after 4 month with 90% dry roads. Visited Moundville Archaeological Park, AL. Really a great surprise. I did not know that Indians in North America build cities like this, and had such a great culture. Really impressing to see. Driving on the dikes along the Mississippi was as coming back to Netherlands. The dikes goes for miles, and stop floods from the river effectively, but flood from the rain is unstoppable.

I am now in Memphis TN. Plane to take a major service on the bike, now 15000 miles, so it is ready for travel, North - Vest - fulfilling my dream tour.

If you find yourself around Robbinsville, NC the 24th-27th drop by, there will be a group of riders staying at the Microtel. If you are headed up north you can come back down and say hello, would like to hear your tales of America.

Ride safely

Memphis TN - Tulsa OK

It vas really a cold ride, from Memphis - El Dorado - Tulsa. But because of a engine who troubled, I had to go to a BMW workshop. In 3-5 C, the heated jacket is a good friend. My experience, ther are few BMW dealers in many States, and they have not the parts in stock. It make it difficult to decide, order by internet and to which address, ore hope the next dealer have what you need. In Jacksonville they were good, and now BMW Tulsa. They did not find anything wrong on the electronic, but mean the surging (at could engine) can be caused from bad gasoline - ore Ethanol /gasoline. Well, then I could finish the service and go for a test ride. Drove to a Cherokee National Center: a big experience. Traveling "in front of the tourist season" I avoid traffic and big crowd of people. Since I was alone, me and the indian used two and a half hour instead of one. I had a lot of question, and he had a lot to tell. 15 mile trip, and the engine ran nearly as a beeemeeer. to day i was in Bartlesville, looking at the oil history. The engine is still not 100%, so I try to find gasoline without Eathanol. On saturday I get new tires, and the "blackbeemer " are ready for the next stretch. Oklahoma City - don`t know when, ( weather and attractions ) - Dodge City.

Hansi,

Find a WalMart (they are every where across the U.S.) and buy some STA-BIL Marine Formula Ethanol Treatment to add to your gas.

Hey, thank you.

Have found "clean gasoline " one time. Tryed some mumbo jumbo ( don`t remember the name ) stuff and the Blackbeemer run like beeeemeeer. Chance ? I don`t know, but I try the STA BIL. Walmart is a good thing for me, but I think it have destroyed many small citys.

Really interesting Cities, Santa Fe and Los Alamos with the historic surroundings. The Pueblo building style is not just special, but very functional. The sites - Cities, after the Indians, thousand years old are impressing. Visiting Los Alamos afterwards I`m thinking - the history of man kind, repeat itself. Surprisingly, there is check points, in to Los Alamos ! To day came the snow, so I must wait some days, in Taos, before continuing West.

I hope the surging / Ethanol problem is solved, using some jumbo-dumbo: STA-BIL. Using that, the Blackbeemer runs smooth again,

4 corner: indian sites, Monument Valley, Canyons and Achers. From Taos NM to Moab UT has been a wonderful - no, an amassing ride. No rain, and temperature from 30 to 70. Go to South-Vest Colorado to morrow, hoping the traveling in a fairy tail continue. It`s good, coming so far away from populated areas, that you see bison, elk, fox, eagle and prairie dogs watching their hole. How do you say it here - freedom!

The advise from this site about having STA-BIL Marine in the fuel, really works.

4 corners, a ride full of historic sites, beauty and excitement. Excitement caused from snow and ice, I`l be glad to avoid, it made me wait for better wether for days. But a walk in many of those small towns are interesting, full of history. So it really does`nt matter. The old settlements in Mesa Verde is really interesting. A good site of traveling North this early of the year is, I have seen the spring coming many times, The country and roads here in Rocky Mountains are marvelous. Seeing the wonderful landscape from a steam train was a great experience. Just seeing and hearing a steam train in motion is a great experience in itself. The wether broadcast promises + degrees the next days, so I ride up towards Rocky Mountain N.P. - Cheyenne and Mt. Rushmore N.P.

The last month have been grate. Good wether, great nature,National Parks , nice old towns, good museums - history and nice people. It goes on, again and again, something new every day. I have seen many animals, some with a great and sad history - like the Bison and the Pronghorn. Memories after people, famous for lead poisen a lot of people, and the prison where they paid the penalty.

Now I drive around on the top of a volcano surface. Yellowstone are really something. from here I take down to Mesa Falls up Bitterroot Range, than heading to Moscow. Do`nt know the exact address, but I find it somewhere.

Really enjoying your adventure Hansi. Really like the picasa pic presentation. You are having a better American experience than 99% of americans that live here full time.

I'm almost 50 years old and think of myself as well traveled... but you've done more USA experiencing in a few months than I have in my life. Keep up the great work and ride well.

I'm assuming that you are referring to the UnRally in Moscow. If you are, most of us are staying at the Best Western Plus University Inn. The address is:

1516 West Pullman Road, Moscow, Idaho.

To many days spending in official offices, who could not help. Than Immigration internet, which not was able to download my PDF attachments. Hoping those I ( with help - from my Mac ) was able to print is what is needed to extend my Visa, I posted it to day by Mail. Not knowing how it goes, ( at least 14 days ) I unfortunately leave out BMW / Moscow. First time on my tour, I have plotted just one address in my Tom tom. From Boise to Anchorage. If not coming back until July 28, I have to go home to Norway from Canada. The weeks in Idaho - Montana have been amassing.

Don`t know, if my decision not going to Moscow was right, - still not knowing if my Visa / stay is extended. Came to Anchorage yesterday, after a long, cold monotonous ride, on some of the worst road I have seen. There is a lot of animals to see, and where there is a clearing in the forrest, the scenery is fantastic. In Anchorage I wait for new Bank-cards, and that the hives goes away from my palm. Not getting knobbed tires ( 17" wheels ) in Vancouver, I don`t take the graveled roads. After seeing the area, I plan to take a ship to Valdez, returning from there.

Hansi, Thanx for your note to me saying that you couldn't make it to the UN. Regardless, we did have a free steak dinner reserved for you if you happened to make it to the BMW gathering in Moscow. Maybe next time???

Sorry you did not make it to Moscow... Great time. Richard and I will be in Alaska on the 10th of July. Will you still be in Alaska?

We have had some German travelers stay with us in California, that when they crossed the boarder from Canada back into the US were given 6 more months on their Visa. When you reach the boarder ask, they may give it to you.

The dream of experience North America became a reality. Do it by ridding a motorcycle vas a part of it, as it always have been my way to travel. You are free, has joi when driving ( when the road is make for that ) and it is creaitin contact. A membership in one ore more motorcycle web sites, can be helpful if needed.

By a coincidense I came in contact vith James Tucker in Los Angeles. He helped me with the purchase, getting signs and einsurance. The bike, BMW R1150 R - 2004, with under 2000 miles on the counter. It was really nice to get help, how and wher to get the sign and which ensurence to to chose. To stay by James & Colleen gave me a opertunity to a USA address, a garage to do the mounting, and advice about where and how i Amrica. Saying goodbye, I was thankful - and felt ready.

California has wery much to offer a motorcyclist. Roads, nature, atrctions and the climat. On other streches of the tour, ther vas frost and partly vinter.something I had calculated, planing to ride in front of the tourist season. That sucseeded on the whole tour, but becase of a hard vinter, I should started from Florida 14 days later. That and other hings I placed on the wise after the event list. But with a heated jacket, and stopping every half houre, to warm the gloves om the sylinders, it vas not too bad, as long as the road not was slippy / icy.

Having been through 23 states and Alaska, I don`t have a favorit. But some states, having big atractions and a beaitiful - unik nature, have to long - booring distances between the destinations. One favorite aerea is " the four corners " Arizona - New Mexico - Colorado and Utah. Could stayed a month in each of them. Think the same of South Dacota - Wyoming - Idaho - Washington and South-Vest Canada. Anyway, Canada and Alaska are fantastic, with the greate nature and wild life. But the long distances, bad roads and the wild life, make me advise not to go alone. 3-4 together and with the right equipment, it can be a greate adventure ride. I think I just skimed the surface.

In adition to a unik nature and history, America has a lot of nice and helpful people. I am surprised, even in the trafic.

To morrow, Aug. 9, I take the airplane from Vancouver to Frankfurt, and drive home. The hive are getting worse - the homesickness to.

You have seen more of the USA than I have on two or four wheels. I need to work on that. I am jealous but enjoyed all of your posts so far. Thank you.

I read that you have some nice motorcycle roads in Norway, too.
