Twisties
We're booked at the Chuckwagon for the 16th-19th. I'm happy to say that there is a discount for a three night booking, and no extra fee for the 72 hour cancellation policy this time around. Last time I tried to book it was $229/nt for a cancelable reservation, and this time it worked out $126/nt. Much better, thank you! It will be good to be back at the CW! Link to comment
BrianT
Booked as well with the discount. Link to comment
don v
I booked also for the 16th-19th, looking forward to it. Getting to and from Torrey with the Vegas Electric Carnival going on that weekend will be a pain. Link to comment

BrianT
8 hours ago, Dennis Andress said: What’s your way around? Since I take two days going home anyways. Two options are #1 south thru Monument Valley via Moki Dugway to Flagstaff or Williams AZ for the night Then I 40 West to 15 South. Other option which is similar miles is west out of Cedar City on multiple US highways to Benton CA on US 6 then south to US 395. Not very exciting, but neither is the I15 south from Mesquite the rest of the way home. Either route adds hours, but is worth it to avoid the worst traffic I've seen in Vegas from what's advertised as "the largest electronic dance music festival in North America." Not to mention half those drivers are high or drunk coming from the event as it ends at 5:30 in the morning. No thanks. 1 Link to comment

BrianT
Taking the scenic route. Retracing some of Route 66 and overnight 5/15 in Flagstaff AZ. Then up through Monument Valley to do the Valley of the Gods Road loop and Moki Dugway. Arriving in Torrey on 5/16. 2 Link to comment
Twisties
Bullett and I are in on the 16th. Haven't thought about routes yet, but there are basically three choices for the daunting 5 hour slog. :-) Straight over on 95, or through Bluff and up the Moki Dugway, then 95, or over the top through Moab to I-70 and back down. Dennis Andress
I'm in St. George this weekend attending a wedding. Last weekend I was camping in the Mojave near Ridgecrest. Next weekend is Torrey. I'm planning on taking the easy, and shortest way there. Slab to Page for the 15th Then Utah 12 and arrive at the Chuckwagon early-ish. 1 Link to comment
Dennis Andress
Most of the 120 miles of I-17 from Flagstaff to Phoenix is down hill. This gives any road legal cage with gas, oil, and balanced tires the opportunity to roll along at 80-90 mph. Over half of it is also under construction, including a few miles of freeway closure with a miserable detour. I'm not going that way again. I'm going to shoot north through Show Low and Holbrook and wind up at Mexican Hat for Wednesday night. Then it's the Moki Dugway on Thursday. Weather looks great, but St. George has had a couple weeks of evening showers... 1 Link to comment

I just got back from FL and decided that an 850 mile push to Salida in one day didn't sound great as I continue to battle sciatica. Instead I'll leave for Santa Fe Tuesday morning and will stay in either Durango or Blanding Wednesday night. Thursday will be the normal, slow trip from Blanding to Hanksville and then on to Torrey. 2 Link to comment

Calvin (no socks)
I left Monday mid day with the intent of showing up at Torrey once again from the East coast .... 2k miles each way for me...After fighting some monsoon rains and severe wind Monday afternoon I looked forward to some hard miles in the saddle in more pleasant conditions. Tuesday morning an unfortunate instance occurred after riding another hundred or so miles. My left side hard bag on my K1600 popped open (unbeknownst to me) on the I-10 causeway approaching the Mobile Bay tunnel. A dangerous stretch of road if you have ever ridden it. The bag contained my backpack which had all my scripts and 1k in cash. A passing motorist flagged at me and I stopped and took inventory on the causeway apron. I proceeded west and at the first chance headed back east to retrace my steps, as I had just stopped at a Dunkin for coffee 1/2 mile prior to the causeway and everything was intact at that point. I repeated the 8 mile loop 4 times and only managed to find a pair of extra shoes that were also in the case. I could have continued without the cash, but not the meds. I was just 400 miles from the house and had to return home... That's one for the books. Lesson learned. 3 Link to comment

Dennis Andress
In at a very wet Mexican Hat. The clouds and wind started about 170 miles south. The rain started around Bluff and got stronger the closer to Mexican Hat I got. Even got lightning and thunder directly overhead. Valley of the Gods Link to comment

You might as well call the Mesquite Escort Service to bide your time. You have their number on speed-dial. Link to comment
