The officer got caught by said train so he called a buddy in the neighboring reciprocal county who stopped us 15 minutes later 20 miles south of Comer. I will be in NC on the 22nd and can’t make lunch. Been thru Comer many times on the way to the mountains, haven't seen any trains but I'll sure watch for 'em.. Glad to know Maggie's has good chicken salad, will try it next time. We stopped for dinner once, don't remember what I had so I guess it wasn't that memorable : ) 2 Link to comment

In fact on that first trip for me we stopped at the minute market at the stop light in Comer and chatted with a deputy that rolled up on the 10 or so of us standing around in the parking lot. That train was moving very slow westbound as we headed south and we crossed the tracks just as the crossing lights started flashing. The train was 100 yards away. The whole thing was a money grab from Ashley and I but I didn't want to spend the night in the Oglethorpe County or Madison County jail after arguing the point with the officer that detained us until the citing officer showed up. 1 1 Link to comment
Bernie
Well, @dduelin if we have a lunch in Comer, we will have to slow down a little and maybe it is a good idea to stop a R&R crossings. I have stopped several times at Maggie's Cafe in Comer on my to different START and FART events over the years and always had a great food and good service. As for a different subject, the weather for tomorrows SECFF Lunch Ride looks promising. I hope to see you all around 11:30 AM! Link to comment

MrMac
Hate to miss it, but I'll not be able to make this one.. We took a trip (via truck since we had some furniture to deliver!) to Colorado to visit our daughter; planned to have been home by now but we decided to stay a couple of extra days. Staying in Arkansas tonight. It's been a good trip with great weather though! See ya'll next month! 2 Link to comment

wbw6cos
Pretty decent turn-out. Good seeing everybody and few others that "has been awhile." Sorry about not seeing the ones that couldn't make it this time. There is always next month. And the month after that. Then, the next one after that. Oh yeah, 2 more after those. Well, you get the idea. Cheers! 3 Link to comment

Lone_RT_rider
I made it home safe and sound at 3:45 PM. 400 miles in less than 8 hours. That's the most I have ridden since START 2022. I'm beat... to say the least.lol Some pics.... That's a great looking parking lot! We can't wait to get to the food! Some old friends showed up....disregards my incredibly bad selfie. My timing getting home was spot on. 15 minutes after I showed up, this did too. It had to be signed for. That was close!!! 6 Link to comment

Bernie
Thank you everyone for braving the horrible weather in the south and joining me for lunch. If I counted correctly we had 12 (including myself) riders show up. My group stopped in Baxley, GA at Common Grounds for a hot beverage and some grub. No pictures this time, as my fingers where frozen. @Huzband and I arrived at Farmhouse Cafe a little sooner then the GPS said we would get there, but @60Aviator, @Bill Murrayand his riding buddy beat us. It was great to see some of the old faces and of course those that couldn’t make, were missed. Hope to see you all and maybe more next month. 7 Link to comment
wbw6cos
Good grief! That place was not that empty when we arrived. It didn't take long to pack 'em in there. Wow! 1 Link to comment
