John Ranalletta
Great time at DART. Weather, food, friends and riding were terrrific. Huge rainstorm encountered in Bloomington, IL. Hydroplaned the car and trailer ca. 75'. Like on ice. Luckily, we were in the middle lane of a 3-lane in a left hand turn. The car simply started floating to the right into the right most lane. Fun. Stopped. Changed undies and carried on. Thanks to hour host @Mike and his lovely better 3/4, Victoria. A regular stop for us is the Benedictine monastery, New Mellery, in Peosta, IA. My brother was a member in the early 50's and I remember our visits there. Luckily, it was just opened to the public last week. The chapel is probably 30'x150'. The walls are probably 18" thick made of hand laid native stone. When there as a kid, a curtain separated the monks from the visitors where the guard rail now stands. It's a peaceful, serence place. 3 Link to comment
Mike
I wasn’t too diligent about taking photos, but we had a great time. Some left yesterday for the Un. Others are sticking around today. Participants came from as far away as California and Southern Florida, and we had some spectacular riding. Got rained out for a few hours Friday morning, but otherwise the Rain God cooperated. As you can see, the early morning storms on Friday drove the campers inside, allowing us to briefly claim the title of Wisconsin’s Largest Indoor Campground. Link to comment
