Aftermarket Radio

Hello,

I know many people are saying that a radio is irrelevent on a RT, but I'm still want to have one.

My Idea is to add speakers as I don't have any actually, and a marine radio.

The radio i'm thinking about is a Boss Marine radio which is only 3" in diameter x 5" depth.  I'm wonderring if it might fit in the left side of the plastic panel.

Actually, my RT is stored for the winter and I don't really have access to it.

Can someone take some measurments for me ?

I'd like to know how big is the platic cover and overall dimension of the left side (see picture below)

Also, if someone have the internal space available at speaker location behind grill.  That will help me to identify which speaker might go there.

Thanks !

Glad to know i'm not the only one with this idea :)

Are you wanting measurements of left side box. I can do it in next hour or so

i think people who don’t like the radios are for a couple reasons. It’s hard to hear the speakers at freeway speeds. The BMW radio has an ancient BlueTooth hard to use connection, it doesn’t have a 3mm jack, and some just don’t want radios while travelling by bike

I like having it and use it on every ride. I just wish they would make integration with BlueTooth and headsets easy. A 3mm jack is needed

Oops sorry you have a different bike than me. My measurements won’t help. I just had a small picture on my cell

It's not really a box, but yes I'm looking to the left side space.

Ok...... So that space is only 3" wide at its widest. I don't see enough room for a 3' diameter mounting circle.

But you do have me looking for another spot to put one.:5146:

I thought that 3" diameter would have fit in this space.

The other option that I have find is:

Bluetooth source:

https://mbquart.com/powersports-audio/source-units/bluetooth-controllers/n1-wbt/

Amp:

https://mbquart.com/powersports-audio/powersports-amplifiers/na2-amplifiers/na2-400-2/

pretty small form factor, but without any screen.  As my phone is hooked on my handlebar with a Ram-X mount, it's not a big deal.

Now, I have to find what speaker can fit in.  My bike actually don't have any speaker, so I guess that the speaker "case" is not there also.  Just putting speaker behind grill is probably not a good idea as there will be no box to guide sound forward.

Mag...Depending on your objective...If you are just interested in listening to the radio while riding, you can install a SENA 20S EVO or higher headset in your helmet.  It has a built in FM radio.  When I want to listen to FM I use the SENA as it gives better sound quality in my helmet than the BMW factory system with bluetooth.  It will also likely be your least expensive option

Another option for you if you already have a bluetooth headset..... it has am/fm/wx

Might see if you can find a foam speaker baffle that is small enough.

The main speakers and tweeters mount in housings that are attached to the bike.  These are from a 2006 RT , but the part numbers are the same for the Camhead years.

Hello 9Mary7,

have you finally started your winter project ?

I'm still planning mine but haven't decided anything yet.

Let me know if you have some idea !

Thanks
