Where did all of the old PMs come from?

Just looked at my PMs and I have lots of old messages that I deleted years ago.  Some were 10 and 11 years old.

It would appear that "deleted" messages in the old software were not  actually scrubbed but only marked as deleted . The initial migration process almost a year ago must have ignored the deleted marking or did not translate the deleted tag appropriately so that the new software would recognize it.
