markacraige Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Last weekend, I traded my 1999 R1100S w/25,000 mi for a 2004 R1100S BCR w/2300 miles. The Boxer Cup is way cool! I kept my hard bags and mounting rails from the 99 to put on the BCR. When I installed them yesterday, I noticed that they had faded from their original black color to a sort of ugly gray. Any ideas on how to restore the mounting rails to their original black color?? Link to comment

RSL Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 You could try spraying with SEM "Chip Guard" which comes in clear and black. I'd use the black. This stuff is used on cars on the rocker panels and chin spoilers, and prevents rock chips very well. Gives a modest wet look black, and holds up very well. I used it on the grill of my BMW 535i and it still looks great after 2 years and 30K miles. ~$16/can at better auto paint shop supply housed or car parts joints. Link to comment
