First 2019 ride

Been a long time since I threw a leg over the saddle, sadly. Thought moving to Italy meant year-round riding..... but nope. We've had very cold weather, very wet weather, very windy weather..... and of course we have an aging rider who is getting more comfortable in front of a fireplace than on 2 wheels..... 😜😜😜

But today the sun continued to shine and temps went up to 57 F. And I promised myself to start practicing again, so donned my gear and took off. Just a short hour and a half ride over hilly back roads towards Perugia. And back via the 'highway' after filling up the tank....

Funnily enough there was a fierce storm blowing so it really felt as if still riding on The Netherland!! 20190215_150142.thumb.jpg.b715c91a0305e50af092fe57f6a04ba8.jpg

Our house among those in the background

The road down to the provincial road connecting us to the world.... sort of....

Some of the roads I traveled today.

..... with some niece views. In the distance is the Mount Subasio  with Assisi on its flanks lower left. That's where we get some of our water once every month.

And although this isn't Florida, we DO have palm trees too.....

The first ride this year was good, albeit a bit stiff, as is my first ride tale from and on my smartphone on our new forum.

Enjoy..... more to come (if the weather keeps up).

Seems funny to me that you've got your GPS set on English, Francois.  But I guess it is the GPS' "native" language, even if it's not yours.

Bill, for the past 40 years or so I have been working 'in English' on a daily basis, so ever since all of my equipment is set to English, most of the books I read are in English, and my English vocabulary is probably very near my Dutch one. I even have problems helping Dutch friends with their computers set to Dutch. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I certainly didn't mean to imply that you are anything less than extremely fluent in English.  I've seen more than enough examples to demonstrate that.  It's just the whole "Dutchman riding his German bike in Italy with his American GPS set to English" thing starts to sound like a bar joke.  I do hope it's set to UK English, for the full international experience! :classic_biggrin:
