You’ve heard the saying, “Dress for the crash, not the ride.” Of course, the first thing that may come to mind when hearing this phrase is the protection offered by your armored gear in the event of a “get-off.” However, there is something to be said for “dressing for the ride.” Your brain is the best safety feature. Just like the cold, extreme heat saps riders of their energy and focus. Luckily, the Yuma series is Scorpion’s most ventilated and hot weather-friendly riding apparel to date.

Designed with the adventure touring rider in mind, both the jacket and pants are constructed primarily out of a 500-denier nylon fabric, with heavy-duty 1680 denier nylon fabric covering high abrasion zones. Most notable are the massive panels of mesh material covering both the jacket and pants, keeping the rider cool and comfortable in the hottest riding conditions. The jacket features standard armored positions at the elbow, shoulder, and back. The adjustable elbow and shoulder protectors are both SAS-TEC® CE certified, unlike the PE foam back protector, which lacks the CE certification. The pants also feature SAS-TEC® armor in the knees and hips.

Most adventure riders aren’t looking to shell out thousands of dollars for protection and performance they can get for a few hundred bucks; that’s where the Scorpion Yuma line comes in. The Yuma series is a high-quality and high-value alternative to some of the upper-echelon adventure riding apparel on the market today.

Scorpion Yuma 1Despite the fact that the Yuma series is directly marketed to those looking to ride in hot weather, its versatility cannot be overlooked. Both the jacket and pants come with a removable waterproof liner, designed to keep you dry in the most adverse conditions. The addition of a lightweight down-filled garment, worn underneath the jacket itself, enables the rider to turn what would be a two-season jacket into a versatile three-season piece of apparel.

It should be noted that the pants are not designed to be worn with jeans underneath, due to the pants’ athletic cut. A base layer worn underneath would be recommended, but not necessary. Additionally, due to the pants’ close-fitting design, inserting and removing items from the front pockets can be troublesome at times. The jacket, however, features numerous pockets designed for easy access.

What sets the Yuma series apart from other jacket and pants combinations is the level of comfort they afford the rider. Spending 10 hours in the saddle isn’t an issue with the Yuma series. Regardless of whether you’re crossing Arizona at the peak of summer, or riding the Brooks Range in Alaska, the Scorpion Yuma series will afford you the quality, value, and versatility you need. The Scorpion Yuma jacket comes in a variety of colors including black, tan, and high-vis. The pants are available in black and tan. MSRP: Jacket—$289.95–$304.95 | Pants—$229.95–$244.95
