Ron-M
I am calling it a lamp holder/insulator. The hard plastic piece that holds the two low beam headlight connectors allowing you to plug the connectors into the low beam headlight bulb. Mine have become brittle and have broken apart leaving the connectors naked. Is it a necessary part, and am I running a risk not having them? Link to comment

Morning Ron You can splice a new one on (BMW OEM is expensive) or get a generic from the auto parts store & splice that on. Personally I just leave the terminals bare as they are under the rubber cover & well protected. Having the plastic connector on just makes initially plugging it on the bulb easier. Link to comment
The Rocketman
If you want cheap bulb OEM connectors, read this thread to see where I got them for 23 cents each: http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=82834&Number=915263#Post915263 Edited May 11, 2017 by The Rocketman Link to comment

This seem to be a fairly common problem, and instead of splicing on another standard connector, you really should look for one that is rated for higher temperature! I know that there are some out there with ceramic insulator, but high temperature plastic should be good also. Here is one: http://www.headlightplugs.com/H7.ht.html Quite cheap, IMHO! Link to comment
