2002 r1150rt. Took a weekend trip with my son to new mexico. Nice ride. Decided to wash the dust off the bike and a green light came on my dash. Maye I engaged something or maybe something actually shorted out. I didnt drench the bike so I dont expect that. Not sure what the signal represents. Looks sort of like a bowl with wavy lines and it's green, which I guess is good? This is my first bmw, so I'm pretty ignorant, but do love the bike.

yes it is B! >?

Thanks

Afternoon Leslie

OK, see that little wavy vertical line running through the 3 straight downward slanted lines?

That wavy vertical line indicates fog, & those 3 straight downward slanted lines indicate the light shinning downward through the fog.

So that green indictor on your dash tells your that you have your fog lights turned on.

Leslie,

.... and.... the fog light switch is the switch towards the upper left of the console (not on handle bar).

Maybe you brushed over that when wipeing or drying things down.

I love this forum! Quick easy answers, always.

And, Dirtrider, your description and definition of the symbols is perfect: "That wavy vertical line indicates fog, & those 3 straight downward slanted lines indicate the light shinning downward through the fog." I never really paid attention to what they symbolized (meaning the wavy lines meant fog, etc.) And, now it makes sense. I'm envisioning the production manager asking the art team to create a simple graphic to illustrate fog, and make it universally understood and small enough to fit into a tiny space. Kind of like the washing instructions found on the tiny tags of our clothing. Anyway, I never thought much about what the lines represented, I just knew what happened when the various switches were activated.

I, repeat, I love this forum!

It's a universally-used icon ... which you'll see on any (European at least) car, truck, motorcycle, with fog lights. Depending on which way the light faces it's either for front fog lights or rear fog light (only ever one).
