Jim Moore
Hi Guys, I'm thinking about buying a transmission off eBay. The bike (2000 R1100RT) it's coming from had over 200,000 miles on it. With that many miles I'd really like to know a little bit about the history of the bike. I figure there can't be too many RTs with that kind of miles. Has anyone here traded in (or crashed and sold to a salvage yard maybe?) a 2000 RT with those miles recently? If you're that guy I'd like to chat with you. Thanks, Link to comment
Christo
I can't speak to the longevity of these Transmissions, but I bought an M97 transmission off eBay with a lot less miles (<50k). Even then, there's a risk with the amount of labor involved in replacing it. If you have the time and don't mind doing the work more than once, and you're getting a really good deal on the older transmission, then take the risk. Otherwise, personally, I would look for younger transmission to reduce the chances of a problem. If you really look around, younger transmissions can be had for a few hundred bucks. Link to comment
Jim Moore
Thanks. The offer was $400, which seems little high to me. I think I'm gonna pass. Link to comment
