PPDGene
I have noticed a whinning noise that I believe is coming from my fuel pump on my 04 GS. This noise can be heard over the engine idle. My 03 RT didn't and my friends 02 R doesn't make this noise. My question is, is this normal on the 04's or GS's or Is this something that I need to have checked out. I still have about 3 months left of warranty. I plan on calling the local BMW shop and ask, To at least document this before the warranty ends. Well has anyone else had this same experience. Thanks Loving this GS. Link to comment
Ken H.
It is the same pump as all of the other R1150xx series. So if it is making more noise than the others it is abnormal. But it might not be the pump itself. If there is a high side fuel line restriction somewhere the pump will be louder. At any rate, worth having checked out under warranty. Link to comment
Stan Walker
If there is a high side fuel line restriction somewhere Yeah, like a very dirty fuel filter. That would be the first thing I would do, change the fuel filter. Stan Link to comment
Jim Moore
I had a very loud fuel pump on my '02 GS. The shop replaced it and the filter under warranty. I still (61K miles later) have a loud and whiny fuel pump. It may not be a problem. Link to comment
