pwhite
My 2004 1150 has extreme blueing of both headers and now the muffler is beginning to turn a gold color. Mileage has dropped to 120 miles to the tank. The bike only has 4200 miles. The dealer has replaced the exhaust system once under warranty. I beleive this is from the fuel mixture being too lean. The bike is at the dealer now and they are talking to BMW but if anyone has a suggestion, I'd sure appreciate hearing before I go back. Link to comment
Ken H.
extreme blueing of both headers and now the muffler is beginning to turn a gold color. TADT. Perfectly normal. I'm amazed the dealer replaced them even once for bluing. Link to comment
chrisx
low mileage is the opposite of lean out. how is the cat area doing? if you run rich the cat will add heat bigtime. Link to comment

1216
I used Bar Keeper's Friend on my last bike's pipes and it took care of the blueing and the gold. In fact, I liked the gold and was disappointed when it never came back. My greater concern here would be the 120 miles on a tank of gas. Link to comment
