How often do you replace your belt? Belt life is one place where I rely on BMW testing to tell me the frequency. I'm a big believer in aftermarket parts but the alternator belt is one where my labor is more important than saving a few dollars so I use the BMW belt and replace at their recommended freq. But I'm always willing to learn if you have other insight?

Jerry,

I replaced my original belt at 36K. It still looked like new. I went with the GoodYear Gatorbak belt because I had just replaced the belts on my truck and found the Gatorbak to be a better belt. They are segmented rather than grooved all the way around. I'll let you know how it held up the next time I replace it at 72K. smile.gif

Here is a little more info:

This is a good site for belt nomenclature.....

I think the new segmented serpentine belts will flex better around our pulleys and may last longer. Guess we'll see.

Bought my belts here ......
