Who Is Flying In?

I am. With the MOA Rally earlier in the month, I have no choice. No way I can get the time to ride from NJ to MT and back. So:

1) Has anyone actually booked flights yet?

2) Is it worth it to try to coordinate something there in terms of arrival and renting cars to get from Billings to the Lodge?

3) Do you secretly feel like going postal because you never have the time to actually "ride there" like you know you're supposed to?

If Mrs realshelby can figure out how to get time off to attend.....I am thinking of flying her into Billings for pickup and deliver for the return flight.

While I could ride up and get her, having a car available to go get/take her would make that easier. Plenty of time to see if there might be an official "UN" rental/borrow car available. ( I don't drink, so I will volunteer for any driving of those enjoying the libations...)

My good Lady and I will be flying in - nothing booked yet as I need to confirm various logisitcal issues, not the least of which being finding the best route.

For those flying some food for thought. Because Denver is a hub it's far less expensive to fly into than Billings. Did some checking, from N.Y. it's a little over half. From London less than half, and Miami and L.A. are about a third as much.

Denver has a couple BMW bike rental companies and it's roughly 550 miles to Billings thru some scenic country. Depending on where you're originating the savings could pay for a bike rental. I used this company (I think) a number of years ago from Fla. to Torrey and was very happy.

I used them too, was very happy also. When I rented they were working out of their house, sounds like they may have expanded a bit since then.

As for a scenic route to Red Lodge, let's just say....OH YEAH!

Sandi and possibly my daughter Beth may be flying into Billings and renting a car. I'm riding up from Tejas - it's a 2-dayer.

Plans will firm up for them sometime in May of next year.

Nice links! If they don't motivate people nothing will!

I have ridden many of those roads just once and am looking forward to doing them again!

If I can go, I suspect this is the only way I'll make it. Not sure of the details yet.

Glad we've advanced past trailers...

We're planning to have the sidecar there as well --- you know, for those that don't have a bike but are too cool to ride in a cage...

:rofl::thumbsup:

I'm planning to fly my wife in to either Denver or Salt Lake City. They are both direct flights from Des Moines. Not sure yet which way to go.

I can't tell if you're laughing at the idea, or if you're trying to get in line first :)
