Lincoln_Faller
I'm about to replace the slave cylinder on my 2001 1150GS. The replacement has a dab of grease where the pushrod fits through the bearing. Is this all the lubrication it will need? If not what else should I use/do? Thanks. Link to comment
PAS
I would inject more grease into the bearing. Link to comment
mneblett
I wouldn't. The cylinder comes properly assembled and lubed. The small dab of grease you see in there is just to lubricate the contact point that receives the rear end of the throwout rod; it is not evidence of lack of lubrication of the bearing that supports the contact point. Stan Walker
I wouldn't. And I did. Even though I had a brand new slave cylinder sitting in my parts cabinet. Around 70,000 miles I cleaned and lubed the drive train including clutch diaphragm spring, clutch splines, driveshaft splines, and clutch slave cylinder on my '02 RT. I pushed a glob of grease through the slave cylinder and left most of it there. The bike and original slave cylinder are now at 134,000 miles and going strong. The spare is still sitting in my parts cabinet. Stan Link to comment
