CylinderHead
Hi all, I have a technology assignment in which I have to design and manufacture a valve cover guard. I’ve been told that price is a big issue with these parts and so I will obviously take that into consideration. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions? I was thinking of a possible design that would incorporate an aluminium base with two or three replaceable strips of dense plastic. The point of this being, that if the bike just hade a minor fall the plastic could be sanded back or replaced at low cost, but if the bike was crashed, the slide would wear through the plastic and then the aluminium would come into effect protecting the valve cover. I’ll have some sketches up soon. Any help would be much appreciated. Link to comment
Mr. Frank
In as much as BMW sells them for about a hundred bucks a pair, you'll have a lot of latitude on price. One could even argue that if you made them too cheap, BMW riders wouldn't buy them. ;-) Link to comment
philbytx
Darn, Why didn't you think of this and manufacture them about a year ago ???? Link to comment
Boffin
One thread on this subject is enough. The one you posted in Bike Related is the one that is most appropriate. Link to comment
