twowheelsonly Posted May 13, 2015 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Hi I have a new issue with the RT, the shift indicator only shows the odd numbers no 2 or 4, its not a deal breaker cause at least you know when you are close to Neutral but if it is an easy fix I would like to take care of it. dirtrider Posted May 13, 2015 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Morning twowheelsonly It could be an easy fix or a more difficult fix but it IS usually repairable. Probably either a gear indicator switch on rear of transmission (REAL pain to get to) Or a broken wire between the rear of trans & dash RID. (IF) previous owner tried to repair it himself then possibly a missing spring in the trans gear indicator switch (those little devils disappear quite frequently on first time switch repairs) Link to comment
twowheelsonly Posted May 13, 2015 Author Share Posted May 13, 2015 Hi I have tracked down the wiring and everything looks good, I plan on having the transmission spline regreased and rear drive serviced next fall so I guess that would be a good time to replace the switch.. Michaelr11 Posted May 13, 2015 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Yes, that would be the right time to replace the gear indicator switch. If never done before you might also replace the Neutral switch at that time too. The Neutral switch is known to get "lazy" in these bikes and then you could have problems starting. Link to comment
