EDO Posted February 20, 2006 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Greetings from cold and wet coastal Carolina. My new 04 R1100S has the "tall" wind screen which measures 18 inches in overall length. I like the looks and apparent functionality of the Wunderlich Vario windscreen but the guy at Santa Cruz BMW told me it is 15 inches in overall length - looks longer, does anyone have one and if so, how tall is it fully extended? I'm thinkin' hard on the 22 inch Cee Baileys Touring Screen, but it looks kinda goofy... Thanks in advance - Ed Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd Posted February 21, 2006 Share Posted February 21, 2006 Put a stock, short screen on the thing, move your handle bars under the triple clamp and ride. You will wind up with much smoother air across your upper body and helmet as well as a much improved mix of dimensions in re seat to peg and seat to bar relationships. If it is more protection from the weather you seek, you are starting from the wrong foundation and will never make an RT of it. I have done a number of 1000 mile days on mine in the configuration mentioned above with nary a problem. The way to handle weather is with gear, not by trying to make the bike something it can never be. Link to comment
