silentbob714
Does anyone know the size of the bolts that hold the front axle in place? I know it's an M6 1.0x but I don't know the length.... Link to comment
mneblett
Which bike? You should be able to find the length by picking your bike in the MaxBMW parts fiche and scrolling to the front suspension window. Link to comment
Guest Kakugo
On all Oilhead RT's they should be M8x40. Link to comment
dirtrider
Morning silentbob714 On your 2004 1150RT that bolt is a M-8mm x40mm long fillister head bolt that has a 1.25mm thread pitch. (I can't remember if it is a class 8.8 or class 10.9) Seeing as it is a steel bolt that goes into an aluminum fork leg you need to watch the bolt's coating so you don't get a reaction between the bolt & fork metal & end up with a seized bolt in the future. The BMW part number of that bolt is 31422312035 & it sells for slightly under $3.00. Link to comment
AndyS
Not important, but I'm uncomfortable with the term Fillister head, so, in case you are too, the fastener you need should be a socket allen head (of the size discussed above). Link to comment
