SteveRTParker
Hi all, The rear carrier on my r1200rt (2012) is showing small cracks up the top centre strut, I use the large top box as a back rest for my wife to lean on whilst riding as she suffers with a bad back, are these racks prone to cracking ??? Thanks Link to comment
Danny caddyshack Noonan
Steve Do you mean the center section that faces toward the top case or, the arcing section that sort of frames the back of the passenger seat? If so, that might not be a problem since that is a bit of a drumhead suspended part. Paint cracking is always a possibility with plastic parts too. Photo might help. I'd at least keep an eye on it. SteveRTParker
Danny. Think, on a much closer look, that it's the thin alloy/painted plastic top covering, the black plastic main rack construction underneath looks/feels intact, I can't open the 'crack' by flexing the main rack. Thanks for the quick response Steve Link to comment
dirtrider
Afternoon Steve My 1200Rt has a small crack in the same place. I seldom carry a passenger but do carry camping gear on the rear seat & that pushes on the rear top box pretty hard at speeds above 90 mph. Link to comment
GordonB
Ditto, my '07 had the same thing, nothing structural. More cosmetic. Link to comment
