Bernie
My oil light does not work on my R 1100RT at start up anymore. How do I test it, too find out if it is the switch or the light bulb in the dash? Link to comment
Jim Moore
Can you switch the bulb out with another bulb, maybe the neutral light? Link to comment
Ken H.
Likely the bulb. If I recall correctly if the pressure switch fails the bike won't run. Link to comment

Maybe enlist a 6 year old to stick his hand in there and pull it for you? To test the wiring, just remove the connector from the oil pressure switch and ground it. That should turn the lamp on. There is no connection from the oil pressure sensor to the Motronics. Bike will run either way. The oil TEMP sensor is the one feeding both the RID and the Motronics. This one can cause problems with engine operation if it's open or shorted. Mick Link to comment
Bernie
Oh well, the light bulb is fine. It must be the pressure switch. Is there a way to clean it or something. Or is it time to order a new one? Link to comment
