ESA question

'13 RT... i tend to ride 1 up, panniers on always, right pannier about 1/2 full with tools, left pannier empty....

 

should i be running my ESA setting at 1 up solo, or 1 up with luggage?

Afternoon

 

Basic answer is: what works for you, on the roads you ride. A larger heavier rider can require more preload than a light weight smaller rider.

 

I can't speak specifically to your 2013RT but on the ones I am familiar with "they are not all the same"

 

My current 1200RT has more spring than it needs for the basic bike so even with fully loaded luggage & moderate camping gear on the rear seat I usually ride with basic rider-only setting.

 

My friend has an almost identical 1200RT & his is sprung softly so that he usually rides in the 2 up mode even as a single rider.

 

So try each setting & use the one you like best.
