Over the weekend, mounted the Sena unit in a Shoei RF1100 helmet. Ten minutes and very easy. However, Bluetooth sounded like AM 6-transistor radios in each ear using the R1200RT radio (AM, FM, and Sirus). Using a memory stick for music in the glovebox slot, sound was fine.

Read in aother BMW forum of two people with the same problem. The correction was turning the bass and treble all the way down and making sure LOUD function was off.

Did as instructed and all is fine. To say there is symphonic sound, that would be a big no. But to say you can enjoy your music, that would be a big yes.

All is fine.

For anyone not using Bluetooth and want to stick with the factory RT speakers, using a Zteck windscreen does tremendously reduce cockpit noise where you can hear speakers at 75-80 MPH.

Thanks for sharing that information - very useful for someone just starting to work with Sena and BMW's BT....which I am not!

This is not a Sena issue, it is a fault in the BMW Bluetooth implementation. If you want better sound, there have been some reports that it can be achieved with the Sena SM10 Bluetooth transmitter. Wire it to the rear speaker connections and fade the sound to the rear to bypass the BMW Bluetooth, while retaining use of the handlebar controls. It is sad that you need to spend extra to patch up such an expensive system, but it is possible.
