I freind of mine just took his K1200R to be dyno'd today. I posted the following on another site but thought I might make for some interesting reading here as well.

His bike is set up just like me (BMW K1200R - full Remus Ti and evo air filters). The results are impressive -

Going by what gets published by Motorcyclist magazine here are some comparisons. Raffy is on the top just to make it easy. These are the bikes we are most often compared to. Some are nakeds some are litre bikes. Sorry this doesn't line up so straight but...

Bike____________HP_________Torque

Raffy___________153.1_______94

BMW K1200R___141.1_______83.5 --- stock Check out the difference!!!

Aprilia Tuono___114.0_______66.8

Ducati 999R____139.0_______79.6

Ducati S4R______108.8______66.5

Harley V-Rod____109.3______74.3

Honda 919______102.9______65.1

Suzuki GSX 1000__150.4_____77.2 an '04

Truimph S3_______119.8______73.4

Yamaha FZ1______128.5______73.8

Yamaha R1_______158.3_______74

All in all I'ld say look out for Raffy! Look how close his numbers are to a 'Busa.

I'm impressed - BIG time.

The R is an awesome bike but I would caution you not to read too much into those peak numbers. They certainly give a good ballpark, but can't really be compared to numbers from other dynos, as they will vary quite a bit. Even the same bike on the same dyno on different days (temp, barometric press, etc) will make different numbers.

Also, with just the peak number, you can't see what is happening with the power curve on the way up to the peak, it could be weak or spiky down low and produce a good number up top, but your real world (mid-range) performance suffers.

Still, it looks impressive and I bet is one heck of a ride!

All that's true. The k-bikes.com web site has the chart posted. You should see the torque curve. Flat as a table. That's what I've always loved about BMWs. Looks like the new fours will carry on the tradition!
