SkiCop79 Posted July 1, 2013 Share Posted July 1, 2013 Hi Folks, I own a 2003 K1200LT, with 50,000 miles on same. A few weeks ago I had some pre-detonation with throttle off and going into a corner or slowing down. Does not happen all the time but it is anoying. I did do the "Brown wire clip" and that seemed to work alot but there is still minor noises that seem to be coming from the exhaust system. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I do use premium gas. Link to comment

lkchris Posted July 3, 2013 Share Posted July 3, 2013 Pre-detonation is not a normally used term. Preigniton and detonation (and pinging) are usually things that happen under load or acceleration. Backfiring is really the only thing that happens when coasting AFAIK and that's usually a combination of unburned fuel in the exhaust and maybe some extra oxygen in the exhaust as well.
