Audio Splitter...Help!

Recommended Posts

I want to combine the audio output from my radar(mono) and the audio output from my Mp3(stereo) and be able to plug my earbuds into it.

I bought one at Radio Shack, but the MP3 comes across in mono.

Does anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks...

Sean Daly, from this forum, makes a very nice passive audio mixer. Not expensive and not lossy like some I have encountered. I have had one in my tank bag for 3 years now. 1 stereo input, two mono inputs all to a stereo output. Works a treat.

Hmmm! Price just went up. grin.gif

Don't remember the name of the other guys, made a mixer/amplifier either battery or bike powered, sold at something like $175. Claims were for high quality and good noise isolation, which can be an issue.

I'm trying to decide between the xma3 and Mix-It2 to use with an xm radio and Garmin speaking GPS. I would appreciate comments from anyone familiar with both mixers regarding which is the better device. The prices are similar. Thanks.

I have been using the orriginal Mix-it for several years now with a Roady XM radio and Escort 8500. I just recently added a Garmin 2610. The Mix-it unit works great with all three. I had to get a special ground loop isolator cable to use the Escort 8500, I understand this has been fixed with the Mix-it 2. Both the Xma3 and the Mix-it are quality products. The Xma3 is built with a metal housing instead of the Mix-it's plastic housing but the Mix-it has a volume control that the Xma3 does not. The only thing I would like to see is some way to mount the Mix-it's volume control know remotely since I have the Mix-it mounted in the glove box of my RT. It would be nice to be able to adjust the volume without having to shut off the bike and remove the key to open the glove box. Other than that I have been very happy with the Mix-it. Hope this helps your decison making.

Thanks for the comparison, Mike. It looks like although it is plastic, the Mix-It2 may be better for me due to the two stereo inputs as well as two isolated mono jacks, volume control, and elongated shape which will fit my tank bag set-up better.
