Diameter of valve stem hole

I'm ordering the stuff to start mounting and balancing my own tires, Got the Harbor Freight mounting system at my front door today and have ordered the rim savers on ebay. I think I've got enough bearings to make a balancing system but I'm looking for some low friction (oiled) bearings. Just about everything today is greased but that should work fine if I don't find anything else. and I've found plenty of stick on wheel weights on Ebay. I think I'll bite the bullet and buy a 90 oz box for about $24 delivered.

After reading about the valve stem failures I'm planing to buy metal valve stems and while I'm at it I'll get some with a 90 degree bend in them for easy access. So does anybody know the diameter of the hole? I find them for sale for holes that are .453", 5/8" and even bigger. I'm guessing the smaller, especially since that is right at 11.5mm so the size is probably really metric.

Thanks,

Jerry

Bike valve stems (TR412) are 3/4" long v/s car valve stems (TR413) which are 1 1/4" long. That additional 1/2" might be a problem if you have large rotors because of clearance while filling air. The rim hole diameter is the same spec for both at .453". I used http://www.patchboy.com to purchase stuff.

Send me a PM if you want to split the wheel weight order. Where did you find the 90° valve stems?

Thanks. Based on your measurements I bought these right angle ones on ebay and they should make it much easier to fill/check plus they should be more reliable than the disposable ones. I've read about people on this board having problems with the disposable ones although I never have and I'm not losing any sleep over it. Thanks, Jerry

THanks for the link. Looks like the problem on the rear was with the bulk of the expensive Ducati labeled valvestems ($30 to $40 /pair). I think my cheap ones should work fine and for $3/each including shipping I can afford them. Thanks, Jerry
