Highway41 Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 Does the computer store a fault code when the engine retards ignition when you use regular gas? I occasionally use the ethanol free gas which is 89 octane and wondered if the ecu has to retard timing. Bill Link to comment
dirtrider Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 Evening Bill As far as I know, NO fault code stored as that isn't a fault it is just normal observed knock retard. Even with premium fuel there will be some knock sensor induced spark retard under some circumstances. Even if it stored an excessive retard active code that wouldn't mean anything as that wouldn't force any sort of failure running mode. Link to comment
