dan cata Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Hi all, I have a friend that owns a k1200gt, 2008, so the one with the multi plate clutch. He went on a trip and somewhere near the Ro border, his engine stopped and would not start again. All the info I know is what he told me on the phone. The thing is that even in 6th gear, the rear wheel does not spin, but it does spin if the clutch lever is pulled in, so I am guessing that the drive shaft and gearbox are ok. Perhaps the clutch too. That leads me to the engine, getting stuck or something. Is there a known problem with these bikes/engine, making them prone to this problem? Andy advice on where to start from is welcome. Thanks, Dan
NCStephen Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 A quick guess is a cam chain failure so the valves and pistons are playing together. Happens more than it should. Hence the fixes like new tensioners and jump guards. See this thread http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=34575 NCS
