BMW LED brake light

on my 2012, I got a BMW 63 00 0 445 578, with a wiring harness 32 2008 92507 61 00 0 445 579 , which do not go together, so I played around with it and it will work on the bench, and I can make it work, but I have to take power from the lights and not from the bench, any ideas what I did wrong?

Isn't it great how they give you no instructions with it?!!

 

There was an old thread here about that, and some instructions on the MOA website. Once I got it figured out, the actual work was pretty easy. I am away from home presently, so can't compare the part numbers (they gave me the wrong wiring harness at first - it's different for a 2012) nor give you more info on the above sources, so I'm not much help at the moment.
