johnlt
What is the secret to deploying the side stand while still seated on the bike. It is designed to only be deployed when standing next to the bike and works well for that. I have deployed it while seated but it takes 2 or 3 trys because my foot is just not flexible enough to catch that little tab. I can get off without deploying any stand then deploy it or use the centerstand but when loaded, it is difficult. Any secrets? Any aftermarket kits? Link to comment
roadscholar
I think a Brown's sidestand will cure that, check Bob's BMW and surely Ebay. Link to comment
Mighty Manfred
Brown or Farley side stand is the ticket if you want to deploy the stand while seated. I've trained myself the ballet steps required to get off while holding the bike up and then deploy the side stand. That is difficult to do when the bike is loaded for a camping trip, AND it gets more difficult as one ages - not that I'm experiencing THAT! Link to comment
Traveler1
I just bought two sidestands (both for R100GSs from Carl Santora at http://www.flyingtpot.com. Not cheap, but well made, super easy to install, and solved my problem with deploying the sidestand. Worth checking out in any event. Link to comment

lkchris
On my R100RS (same sidestand) I lean over and deploy the sidestand by hand. Link to comment
PAS
I put an updated stand on my 81 R100RT that is spring loaded. I push it down and roll the bike backwards to fully extend it. A real pain to put a plastic plate under when on soft ground. Link to comment
