K1200GT-2 Front Rotors (Floating or not)

My manual says that the front brake rotors are floating, but when I grab onto them and try to feel if they float, they feel like they are fixed rotors. Are they frozen, or do they float a mere .001 of a mm?

 

Could they have become frozen over time?

They are floating. If you look at the buttons that connect the rotor to the carrier you will see that there is "float" within the assembly. No, it does not seem to be much but it is there and functions fine as designed.

 

There is really no way for them to become frozen. Periodic normal washing should be all that is needed to keep them clean. Salt in your area may cause some surface corrosion but it should not be anything to concern yourself about.....well, unless you're surf crashing with the bike.
