on Sat. He seems to think my strange noise in the driveline is related to driveshaft.

He's got me covered if it is thumbsup.gif

He said he would work with on the labor too. thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

I a little scared if isn't [insert flying-$$$ out of my wallet] eek.gif.

Will be done between jobs - so it will take a while tongue.gif [guess that is why I have 2 dopeslap.gif]

All in all.... I think it was worth the 11 hour trip to see him cool.gif

EVERYONE think good thoughts thumbsup.gif

Uff Da ... that's tough if it's 11 hours (round trip ?) to get to the nearest dealer but hopefully they are correct in diagnosis and will get you squared away !

Calvin (no socks)

Dan, the last thing I remember was the black smoke and cutting out thing... left over from the last tech day...?

What was the resoloution on that one?

Noises that are intermittent are tough to diagnose, but a easily repeated noise should be a piece of cake....

Hey! my 2003 RT-P also had/has a strange noise! They replaced my driveshaft (under warranty), but the noise persists. The dealer does not seem to have any idea what it is. The noise is a "thunk" when the brakes are applied very hard. There should be a thread for it somewhare on this board. What's your noise and when does it happen?

I had help re-adjusting the valves [some were a little tight]

One of the spark plugs was loose [was able to get the other one out thumbsup.gif]

Did another TBS [was a little more finky about it]

That seemed to get everything running back to normal.

Except for the driveline noise that suddenly appeared tongue.gif

Steve,

My noise sounds like marbles are loose some where in the driveline.

It happens when I slow down in gear [or a load is placed on the driveline]

like when you are in traffic. It happens in all gears, and does not seem

to be related to the clutch [on the test ride, the mechanic tought it was].

This has been a series of problems with this bike:

replaced 2nd gear

replaced transmission

and now this problem

The engine has always run flawlessly thumbsup.gif and it shifts well too.

The dealer has been great thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

He has stayed commited to this bike and has gone above and beyond anything a

normal dealer would do. All without a warranty... just his word.

Good luck with your bike.

11 hours included the round trip and the time I spent at the dealer.

There are dealers that are closer, but he is the one is where I bought the bike

from and he has worked with me on gettin it back on the road. And besides...

he is the only one who knows what he did to it the last time. grin.gif

I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you. You've had enough "interesting" stuff happening with your bikes. tongue.gifthumbsup.gif

What else you got?

Doesn't Mikey have toes too? Hmmm.... grin.gif

Thanks for all the good will. But we all have to really believe. tongue.gif

Dan, sit down with the bike and tell it that if it doesn't cut this crap out , you're going to trade it for a Harley.

Never make threats you don't want to carry out! smirk.gif

Sorry to hear about your problems. The sound you describe sounds very different from my clunk sound. Good luck resolving it. Keep after it as long as your dealer supports you. It's a GREAT bike, and well worth the effort.
