Does anyone know if there is a Ram ball mount that will work on a 2007Gt? possibly a brake res.cover.or a model specific mirror hole ball mount? thank you JS

I've been using a Perfect Switch setup on my '08 GT since I bought the bike new in July of '09. I'm using a standard RAM arm (3" I think) mounted to a RAM ball screwed into the Perfect Switch mounting post. The Valentine One is mounted using the regular RAM disk. The V1 is secured to the disk with 3M Dual Lock and a heavy duty wire tie as a backup. I have the same setup on the left side the for Zumo's XM receiver (aka hockey puck).

Thanks Tony, where do you get the ram ball and post that is mounted to the switch? ,or did you make the stem? Jim

Jim, the aluminum post is the Perfect Switch product. They are machined to fit into the unused mirror mounting hole on the GT's. They have a threaded hole on the top (1/4 - 20) and bottom which will accept the securing bolt (bottom) and a RAM ball on top. I can't remember where I got the RAM ball but there are a bunch of folks out there that sell RAM components.

So do you remember where you purchased the stem from? also do you use a nylon tie for a saftey band around your radar detector? if you do ,have you ever thought about taking a old inner tube and cutting it as if you are making rubber bands out of it. They work great. different size tubes make diff size bands. I usually cut them 3/8 to a 1/2 inch wide.let me know on the stem buy . Thanks Jim

Jim, the first response to your OP above is from Perfect Switch in San Diego. That's where I ordered the mounts. Click on that link and you'll see much better pictures of their solution than the ones I posted.

With respect to the securing band around my V1, I suppose I could have used pieces of an inner tube but I don't really have old inner tubes around. The heavy duty wire tie works well and when I park the bike I simply detach the whole RAM mount and lock the V1 (and my Zumo) in the top case. I have the Valentine permanently mounted to the RAM since I don't have a car and don't have a need to move the detector back and forth. The security band is really a "belt and suspenders" solution since Dual Lock can hold stuff rather securely.
