Rain on the parade not bike...

So I rode to work today knowing full well, it's 'going' to rain on my new shiney dry bike. I bought this beast to ride, rain or no rain. Should I get a cover for it? or get some type on rain resistant polish, something to help against rust?. or all of these?

Thanks!

The cover is one more thing to lug around. I use my bike every day and find that washing it once a year keeps it clean enough,,,,,,,

Rain?, feh...no big deal. On the other hand you may want

a nice sport cover that blocks UVs for longer touring

trips. They also keep prying eyes off your goodies, and

cats think twice before making your nice black seat a

place to sleep and 'pussy foot' their claws into.

There is also a very nice product out there called Rejex

available at corrosionx and

lots of after market motorcycle parts websites.

Great stuff; wash and dry the bike really well, and wipe on

(don't rub on like polish) while it sits in the garage (instructions say not to apply it in direct sunlight),

and just wipe it off when it dries. Bike looks like it has had a nice polish applied to it, but the best part is that

it was originally made to be applied to light aircraft to

prevent exhaust stains and bugs from sticking. A light

spray of H2O on bugs, dirt and even tar, let it soak for

a minute, and just wipe the crud off. Bike looks like you

just polished it again without the time and trouble of a

wash and wax. lasts for months.

Very nice, epecially when ya still got a

'chubby' goin' for a nice shiney "spankin' new" bike sittin'

in your garage just begging you to ride it, shine it up,

or just sit and look at it with those big 'Doe eyes' you

get everytime you turn your head towards it (yup, we've All

been there wink.gif).

Seriously, though, it makes it very easy to get those

sticky bugs off the windshield and tupperware, just don't

apply it to matt black surfaces; it leaves a whiteish haze.

No affiliation with the company; just like the stuff.

Oh, different issue, but there are some products (can't

remember the names right now) to help prevent exessive

'blueing' of your pipes that you might consider since the

bike is new.
