espresso
My paperwork indicates that my bike is a R1150RTA. What does the "RTA" stand for? Probably a dumb question. I've just been curious. Thanks, Stay warm, stay safe. espresso Link to comment
Tom R.
Others will confirm or not, but I'm guessing the A stands for Anti-Lock brakes. Link to comment
espresso
duh....I think I just answered my own question. I'm assuming the RT "A" is for ABS braking system. Oh well, Thanks anyway. espresso Link to comment
espresso
Thanks Tom, I should have thought about it a bit more. The reason I'm asking is because I was asked whether the bike was a "Limited" or "Special" edition. The only reason I'm thinking the question was asked is because the bike is totally black without the "R1150RT" signature on the sides of the tupperware. It came that way. Any thoughts on that? Thanks, espresso Link to comment
rdfrantz
Nope. ABS has been on virtually all US models. How about "A for Anniversary"? Got fancy bags? Got fancy paint? All dressed up for the party? Link to comment
espresso
That's pretty much what I thought, Dick. It's an '02 model year, pretty as can be, but I can't see that it's "special" in any particular way. (of course, they say Black IS the fastest color.) espresso Link to comment
HappyMan
O.k. this is out of ignorance and perhaps here say....didn't the A stand for accesories or something. I thought the RTA had the radio. Link to comment
espresso
That's a thought, John. The bike does have a radio. hmmmmmmmm, are we getting close to the true identity of this beast? Thanks guys, espresso Link to comment
Bob Palin
I think it is Anniversary too, remember all those events they had for their anniversary that year, the big Tahoe gig etc. There was nothing different about the basic machine, they just dressed it up. Link to comment
BUSTED
My 96 R1100RT was listed on the bike/papers as an RTL and had the radio/heated grips as standard equipment. After some complaints of an un-needed, inadequate radio and high price BMW dropped the radio and heated grips from standard equipment and lowered the list price from 15,990.00 to 14,990.00 . The bikes after that without the radio/heated grips were called RTA's as best as I can remember at that time. Link to comment
BobFV1
My paperwork indicates that my bike is a R1150RTA. What does the "RTA" stand for? RT = Renn Tour or "Sport touring" A = ABS equipped There are no stupid questions... Link to comment
