markgoodrich
Long commute from Whip's to the track (wherever it might be). On the other hand La Quinta Goodrich, an exclusive boutique inn, is just minutes from downtown Austin. Prices range from $899.99 single to $2099.99 double, depending on room, breakfast choice (Froot Loops or Egg McMuffins from the local McDonald's) and how many wiener dogs you want to sleep with. Towels extra. Intergoogle available for extra charge. Hot tub, $5.00 per five minutes. Link to comment

John Ranalletta
This is a puzzler. Looking at the census map of the US, one sees that Austin (a city I love a lot) is next to no where, population-wise. I wouldn't be surprised if TelMex isn't a big sponsor. Then again, it doesn't matter where it is as they only need 80k or so people in the stands. It's TV that pays. Obviously, Bernie got his $25 mil walk-around money. Link to comment
Gary in Aus
"Hot tub,$5.00 per 5 minutes" Is that clothing optional and if so does it include a towel ? It will be interesting to know how much this costs. The Australian round has been held in Melbourne on a "street circuit" while the Australian round of Motogp is at Phillip Island on a motor racing circuit. Victorian and Australian taxpayers contribute substantially to these events , mainly because we have people competing ,without Weber ,Stoner , Corser ,Vermulen et al, I would suggest public support would drop. Doohan Gardner and Alan Jones were important in us having a round of these events. We had a purpose built race track built at Eastern Creek in New South Wales and they held the Australian rounds of Motogp there but political changes led to Victoria winning the hosting rights {I prefer the Island over Eastern Creek] and it is now a very expensive circuit not reaching it's potential.
