F800ST service interval

My son's bike manual says to service it at 6k miles, then every 12k after that (18,000 then 30, 000 then 42, 000 etc). My RT is in chunks of 6k. What would be the reason for twice the number of miles for his? 3 different shops gave 2 different answers: 2 said every 12000 miles, the other said every 6000 for service. Said the inspection level was different, hence the difference in mileage.

The service is every 6k. The service is different at 6k interval from 12k interval. The 12k adds a couple more things to it that the 6k doesn't have, however, the interval for any service is every 6k.
